You best belive! I've been hearing around that our President (and god) George W Bush has declared may first Loyalty Day.
look:
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2003, as Loyalty Day. I call upon all the people of the United States to join in support of this national observance. I also call upon government officials to display the flag of the United States on all government buildings on Loyalty Day.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand this thirtieth day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand three, and of the Independence of the United States of America the two hundred and twenty-seventh.
GEORGE W. BUSH
...he did it infront of God people.....thats it!
you can check it out for your own self at www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2003/04/20030430-26.html and if that doesnt work for you then put it in a search engine you lazy fat-cat!

I think he has some S&M tendencies, so he actually WANTS the may day demos to become mass demos against his war. I think you simply can not say 'no' to this poor masochistic bastard.

So let me get this straight. Under the mounting pressure for the american administration to allow a national holiday for the workers on May the 1st (like the rest of the world) He thought it would be better to twist the sentiment and call it loyalty day, thereby disregarding the whole essence of the day by changing it into a 'day of patriotism!
It really makes me sick to the bone.

The Congress, by Public Law 85-529, as amended, has designated May 1 of each year as "Loyalty Day," and I ask all Americans to join me in this day of celebration and in reaffirming our allegiance to our Nation.

Hell, I don't even own one of those.
It's times like this I'm glad I don't live in the US.

I have a Soviet flag hanging on my wall. Perhaps I'll go out and buy a pole and mount for the front of my house so I can display it. They ask for loyalty, possibly this will demonstrate where my loyalties lie.

Turning the Real Labor day into a day of loyalty to America - what a shame.
I am not loyal to bush or to america. I am loyal to Communism.
:hammer: For the real Worker's Day! :)

I always thought May Day in the US was called Law Day in order to stay seperate from communist countries around the world.

It was called Law Day in the past:
http://www.abanet.org/publiced/lawday/images/lawdaybottom04.gif
In the late 1950s, the American Bar Association instituted May 1 as Law Day to draw attention to both the principles and practice of law and justice. President Dwight D. Eisenhower established Law Day by proclamation in 1958.
http://www.loc.gov/law/public/lawday.html
Intresting enough, in 2003 Bush called it both, issuing two seperate proclamations on the same day calling it two diffrent things.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, GEORGE W. BUSH, President of the United States of America, in accordance with Public Law 87-20, as amended, do hereby proclaim May 1, 2003, as Law Day, U.S.A. I call upon all the people of the United States to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. I also call upon Government officials to display the flag of the United States in support of this national observance.

Loyalty Day don't sound half as much fun as trashing some McDonalds and having street battles with the Police :P
The 1st of May will always be the day of the worker, Bush can never change that except by name alone.
We have the first weekend in September as our Labor Day. To the average american, May Day is a call for help when a ship is sinking, "May Day, May Day, We're goin' down, May Day!!!"
Bush is a shithead. Who really thought of last May 1st as fucking Loyalty Day? Loyal to who? If I were loyal to the USA and its founders I would be organizing AGAINST Dubya not supporting his idiotic shit-headedness.

Am i the only person thinks that sounds like an extremely fascist-like policy, i know americans are more patriotic than most people but is this kind of extreme nationalist really common in america?

No there's tons of this stuff. In fact I'm sure people are going to be walking around like it's a concrete national holiday like the 4th of July. Wow. This is going to appeal to the majority of the population because most aren't even aware of the Leftist's Mayday.
By the way, what does "Misodoctakleidist" mean?

Ugh, the American "Labor Day" is an occassion on which the bosses take advantage of the three day weekend to go skiing or fly to Hawaii while everyone in the service sector has to work harder since everyone decides to go shopping!
