Today starts the second Economic and Social Forum, an iniciative of aint globalisation movements. Its purpose is to act as a counter weight to the World Economic Forum held in NY. It is taking place in Porto Alegre, a Brasilian City, for the second time and over 60.000 people are atending this Forum. Members of the EU parliament and representatives of parties, such as the Greens, Unitarian Left and the social-democratic parties, are also presente in this event. The main issue of the discution will be:
- "the construction of a world without war after the 11/9", finding solutions to the emergency of a multi-polar world with respect for sovereignty and diversity.
- Economicaly they will analise and discuss the Argentinian case, pardon of thrid world nation`s debts and taxes on financial transactions.
- Finaly with relation to the institutions of the new world order they will talk about ALCA ( association of free trade of the americas) that Brasil doesnt want to sign and that the US wants to see in practice by 2005.
