I won't call you stupid :P I'm not really sure why there's so much violence. The police have been known to provoke riots while being undercover as protestors. Then there is the Black Bloc. But I guess my idea is that the opportunity to cause trouble for the leaders of the richest nations in the world is not something that protestors are inclined to pass up.

Police are overly violent, they're ignorant to the cause of the rebels and so deal with every situation the same. Having said that some protestors are there to start trouble which gives the rest a bad rep. Genoa saw the movements first death if I'm not mistaken.
Great quote:- "its not the rebels which cause the troubles of the world, its the troubles which cause the rebels"

Yes I aggree, I'm in favour of using vandalism as a protest tool; I'm not particularly brave enough to do it myself but more power to those who are ^_^

violence is always going to have a bad rep. but its a powerful and important weapon when getting a message across. Inevitably people see the vandalism over the message. Sometimes peaceful protest just isn't enough.

Yeah, its very naive to think that the problems the dissident community faces can all be solved peacefully.

Do you know who that quote is from?
Arguing against violence is the same as arguing that only the state should be allowed to use violence. Violence is inherent in the system (as the Monty Python commune member said), the option to have a world without violence is not available, the only option is whether or not the state will use violence alone or whether we will counter that violence.
100 rioters are more politically valuable then 10,000 protestors. Passive protest doesn't demand action, it doesn't demand a choice, it asks to be ignored.
