I can't remember my numbers but I was about in the middle of the Libertarian/Left Wing quarter, slightly more libertarian and slightly less left wing than Ghandi.

would an anarchist be right at the bottom and extreme left, or mid left?

comrade kamo

Moskitto
29th January 2002, 20:21
An Anarchist is anywhere at the bottom. There are anarcho-capitalists you know (Although surprisingly enough, Friedman isn't one according to this test.)

There's also Fascists who are anywhere at the top. THe 3 best examples of top hangers are Stalin (Left), Hitler (Centerish) and Pinochet (Right.)

Well knock me over with a feather!! I answered the questions honestly and here's what I got....

Economic left/right: 0.50
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -4.87

OK now I gotta go back and read what that means exactly....maybe I'll figure out if you guys like my ideas or not ....

So, I'm about the same "place" as Ghandi.. That's pretty weird.. I didn't necessarily expect that but then again, I didn't know what to expect.. :)

i really think the questions are formulated in a way that makes an outcome of liberitarian socilalists more likely.

Sasafrás
31st January 2002, 01:13
Ha, OK.. This time, I answered the questions opposite of what I actually believe.. (EG: Strongly disagree becomes Strongly Agree. Agree becomes Disagree and vice versa).
I got:
Economic Left/Right: 6.88
Authoritarian/Libertarian: 4.36

That is soooo on the right, placing me close to Thatcher's spot. My red dot is also near Michael Portillo on the "UK Today" Compass..
But, yeah, it does seem that most of us should be in "Libertarian Left."

MJM

I agree the questions do seem to make you libertarian rather than authoritive.
I was right down lower than ghandi and more left.
I forget the #'s now.

I've taken this test a number of time. This time I got:

Economic Left/Right: -7.88
Authoritarian/Libertarian: -9.03

Hey, Jurhael. Are you moving farther to the left?

vox

Jurhael
31st January 2002, 06:49
HAHAAH!! Well, given that my last results were like in the -3/2 range, I guess that means yes! LOL! Although I do admit that the results can and do fluctuate. Hehe

El Brujo
31st January 2002, 07:03
Either its not very accurate or some of the questions are misleading. I tried it a few more times and I got -6.51 and -3.13. Im not sure about the authoritarian/libertarian thing but I know Im way farther to the left than -3.13.

vox
31st January 2002, 07:18
Yep, Jurhael, pretty soon you'll be sportin' that Red Star tattoo!

Actually, it's just further evidence that when an open minded person listens, the Left, not the right, makes more sense. We've been talking for what? 10 months? A year? And I know that you were further to the right back then.

Hey, it's not my fault socialism makes sense and capitalism doesn't. I didn't come up with them! :)

It's nice, though, to see someone make up her own mind.

It's just that we are libertarian socialists who are testing it.

I was about -5 on both

Jurhael
31st January 2002, 19:28
Well, it all started on Sia's board, so I'd say a little more than a year. But, maybe a couple months more or something. :)

The Sept 11 attack made me look even more into things and that may have been a catalyst as well. There was a lot that went on that I honestly didn't know about.

its one thing to take this test...but a lot of people (not accusing anyone on here..people I know off the net) ,call themselves commies, but really they don't have a lifestyle to reflect it

Could be worse :)

I can't help but wonder about some of the questions, though, such as what effect does one's position on the death penalty have on the score? From one standpoint, you could see it as the right to avenge injustice, from another you could see it as the right to not be executed by the state.
I suppose the second is what was on their minds, but these are pretty complicated issues.
