I saw a book about censorship once.
It argued that censorship, to a limited degree, increases freedom because groups who feel oppressed by others feel they are able to express themselves. Or something along those lines.
What's you're view, Total bollux? or does it have a point?

Censorship is a bit tricky. What offends you doesn't necessarily offend someone else, and vise virsa. I strongly believe in responsibility (of children) and accountability (of children). The worst thing a parent can do is leave society to mold their seed.
I feel censorship is a black/white issue... yet, you can't help but see it gray at times.
How far are we willing to go? You have politicians banning literature in schools, yet we have sex/drugs/violence in our children's environment. I have a huge problem with cartoons using the word stupid-- but that may only be me. Saddest part of all... adults get influenced too. What a pitty...

"God forbid that any book should be banned. The practice is as indefensible as infanticide." - Dame Rebecca West
"But the peculiar evil of silencing the expression of an opinion is, that it is robbing the human race; posterity as well as the existing generation; those who dissent from the opinion, still more than those who hold it. If the opinion is right, they are deprived of the opportunity of exchanging error for truth: if wrong, they lose, what is almost as great a benefit, the clearer perception and livelier impression of truth, produced by its collision with error." - John Stuart Mill
"I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." - Beatrice Hall
Censorship is, and always will be a terrible crime.

Censorship is pure bullshit ..
Censorship means no freedom of choice ....
only u can decide what should be cencored for u or ur children not the government or any other person ...
i live in a country where cencorship is 100% ......
for example , i cant access any sites that contain anything about sex , drugs , racism , hitler , nazis in general , satanism in general , piracy , hacking , pro-jewish web sites , web sites containing violent images , black/death metal , etc etc.
u feel like u r in a prison , with no walls !

Censorship is indeed tricky. How can we allow people to feel free to say what they please without bringing about a lot of conflict? I believe in freedom of speech & press and all that; however, I don't enjoy seeing groups like the Neo-Nazis and Ku Klux Klan expressing their views. BUT, if I am able to say what I want, everyone else should too. As long as nobody gets hurt, everything's fine. If someone doesn't like something, then that person can make every attempt to avoid seeing or hearing it.
Censorship is not cool..

"Censorship.
By Parents and Guardians, Yes,
By Governments and Software Companies, No."
