Speeches in the Fifth Congress of the Party of Socialist Power

All of you welcome to the Fifth Congress of Party for Socialist Power.
Turkey is in a crossroad. A marxist, standing in this junction and trying to make up his mind on what to do, can find plenty of tangible reasons to think that the roads opening out to the left-wing are getting narrower gradually. Truly, insufficiency of the response of working class in the crises of Turkish capitalism is obvious. Privatization, which we struggle to hinder, continue. Colony governorship model of our country’s dependence to imperialism has left its place to direct, unhesitant existence of imperialism in decision mechanisms. Leave the revolutionary forces aside, not even the dynamics which are communist and which try to loosen the boundaries of the social system, do display a significant dynamism in Turkey. According to these facts, maybe the left wing should think that a period has been closed, a train has been missed, and it should step aside!
Friends, this hopeless model misleaded a series of sections of left-wing even not confessed. If they were not misleaded, would they say “at least the democracy of European Union”! If they were not misleaded would our Kurdish brothers imply that they would be satisfied with Gaffar Okkan type of modern police chiefs and with Diyarbakýrspor’s promote to the first football league!
Friends, above data is resulted only from misreading of the map. Look how else this map can be read:
Turkish capitalism is a system of plunder from top to toe. This order of plunder cannot save itself from crises anymore.
Turkish capitalism is incapable of managing itself. It cannot establish a government without making imperialism a direct partner of the administration of country, and without assigning ministers not surrendered to imperialism but directly representatives of it.
Turkish capitalism is in such an incapability that, if an election is held today, even the national assembly will not be able to established. Because there is no bourgeois parties who has 10% of support, in Turkey any more.
Of course, the ruling powers are not only incapable. Ruling powers have a project at hand. This project aims that the country to become a “more equal” member of the capitalist family. This project aims Turkey to be entered into EU. This project aims those working classes to be kept absolutely poor and absolutely unorganized. This project aims that Kurdish poor to be surrendered so much that they cannot stand up again. This project aims at the full sale of public properties. This project aims that Turkey to act as a demon of hell over the heads of other peoples in its region, in a full harmony with US and EU, to make the projects of imperialism over the region smoother, and to execute these projects. For all of these, the political structure in Turkey has to be renewed from top to toe. This restructuring cannot be done without shaking severely.
Friends, the essence and function of crises are this. The crises gave a great acceleration to the monopolization process for reaching the ideal structure that will let the bosses exploit, plunder and sell the country. Crises are also the shake of capitalist class itself. The big monopolist capital consolidates its leadership in the front of capitalist classes by crushing the others.
The crises have shaken the political area so strongly that the existing structure cannot get well anymore. Three parties forming the government as of 1999 are finished. Religious party struggle for nothing, the capitalist class will not give them the mission of power. There is no hope in True Path Party (DYP) which is the party of gangsters of tree years ago and social democracy as their crutch. Today, their own public researches announce that the most braggarts of bourgeois parties can receive 9% of votes.

Nobody in Turkey’s left wing has the right of looking at this table and scaring of the gap existed. The gap is enormously big. There is no relationship between the volume of the whole left wing and this gap at all. However, if there is anybody who will say that “this gap swallows us, we should step aside for the moment”, we will have nothing to do with him. Friends, communist movement of Turkey should determine the weak points that will result from the shakes in bourgeois world, should determine where to hit and should feel the enthusiasm of what it will gain, instead of getting scared against the largeness of the gap that it will attempt to fill.

The restoration process which means the restructuring of capitalism in Turkey has entered into a very critical phase in its sixth year: Restoration demolished the bourgeois politics as a whole to re-establish from the very beginning. Against this demolition, Soldiers’ Party, Big Capital and Imperialism made an alliance by acquiring a political party identity for each. They form the actual coalition ruling Turkey. Should a left-winger be panic against the power of each component, and the poser of whole, or should he see the great opportunity hidden in this coalition.
This opportunity is the order’s becoming naked. That imprisonment our people to poverty and plunder is getting obvious during this process in which the bourgeois parties are discharged. Discharge of bourgeois parties is not an advantage for the power of capital, but it is the loss of tens of arms used to make the working class deviate from their ways. Capital does not assign a clerk over the plunder, and takes the control of direction in its hands. There is nobody left who can use the demagogy of national worth in the relationship with imperialism. Untouchable institutions that the order can invite when it finds itself in trouble are left in the past.
My friends, great opportunities are hidden in this triple alliance:
An urgent programme of plunder has been put into execution in Turkey today. Nobody will be able to tell that those performing this plunder are deviations like gangster and vulgar plunderers.
The politics is requested to be restructured for the urgent plunder be a standard regime of the country. With this aim a number of pawn should be expected in the scene in the upcoming process. Against all pawns driven, the communist movement will hold a campaign to expose them.
Legal structure of this standardized plunderer regime is knitted step by step. Privatization takes steps. Communist movement will both expose this process, and also do whatever it can to put a workers’ barricade in front of the privatization.
The real important problem of this social order is the political parties aspect of this pillage regime’s. To what kind of a structure and to whom this current triple alliance will give the flag when it goes behind the curtains again. The answer of this question is unclear. Certain dissolution is seen in the political party organization of bourgeoisie; about half of our people have estranged themselves to bourgeois politics. Current need is making those estranged connected again with this order.
Friends, Party for Socialist Power sees that a strong sabotage can be made against this bourgeois restructuring by the communist movement, and our communist movement can utilize this process as an important political movement of the country. The opportunities that I have mentioned are these, essentially. Concretely, in the upcoming period, our Party will have the opportunity of meeting left-wing masses once again in the history Turkey, and (this meeting will be) more qualified this time.
There are leftists who don’t see this opportunity and living the day with humble and reactionary aims. I will speak openly, we as the Party for Socialist Power gave up our hope of these leftists. The only way is to embrace our people with patriotism while our country becomes an open hunting area of imperialism. We have nothing to do with those choosing EU fondness instead of this way. We say that we increased our distance with those saying the workers that they are not statists and they do not reject the market economy, despite the great cruelty of the capitalist class that our country witnesses. We have no relationship with those keeping the Kurdish workers busy with democratic solution tales while there are no Kurdish words for exploitation and oppression, instead of calling them to socialism. What can our relationship be with those interpreting revolutionarism as a closed sect culture while the people of Turkey is in a deep estrangement against the bourgeois politics!
Brothers, Party for Socialist Power sees the opportunities in front of us. The party organizes itself for the conquest of these opportunities. The party rejects the hopelessness in the left wing. The party calls the workers, intellectuals, our brothers becoming hopeful in different directions time to time to give a shoulder to this journey of hope, to join it.
Friends, we are not dreaming. If we were dreaming we would sell the demonstrations of shopkeepers and farmers as the awakening of national powers, as some sections of the left wing did. If we were dreaming we would be expecting revolution from our people taking the streets with the call of their bosses after the Friday prayer. All of these are dreams. However, the great political fluctuation and deep gap is defenseless against us.
What we mean are these friends: The restoration process does not think that it took a risk with this fluctuation and gap. They are aware that the risk should be taken serious only when it comes from the working class and left wing. They take courage from the weakness, unorganizedness and inertia of working class and they shake their own social system with their own hands. They might have taken measures against everybody. This model, this plan is defenseless against us. The price of their not taking left wing and workers serious will be high. We will make them pay this price by gaining the conscience of our people and by organizing the workers. For the moment, or in the first run, this price will not be a whole change of social system, a revolutionary disruption. But a massive bounce up will be realized as a result of which the day of liberation will come very near. It is possible for the left wing to become a massive and legitimate movement, and to pierce the political structure project of restoration. It is possible to make the fact that the real and only alternative to this social order is socialism, be adopted by wide masses.
The political and organizational target before the Party for Socialist Power is this bounce up.

The movement establishing the Party for Socialist Power had started out while the symptoms of 12 September coup had been accumulating. It had passed through the darkest phases of counter-revolution. We have claimed the tradition in a period when it was claimed that the socialism, class struggle and working class had been finished in the world and in our country. We have tried to establish the communist politics on an age when the liberalism and non-governmentalism was in fashion. The Party for Socialist Power had walked against the wind for quite a long period. While some part of the left-wing have hoisted sales and flied away, while some other part have become frail against the storms, the Party for Socialist Power have walked step by step.
The political and organizational targets that our party puts before are based on the fact that this kind of a period of struggle for honor is getting closed. Our Party will not be contended with the struggle for honor anymore. As the conscience, voice and vanguarding organization of massive worker masses, the Party for Socialist Power tells he good news that period when a powerful revolutionary communist movement will take shape is started.

I have to talk about the other sections of the left wing, briefly. The Party for Socialist Power has defended the vanguarding role that will be undertaken by the working class in transformation of its merits, identity and the whole society. Thus, traditional working class party has claimed the traditional line and model of the communist party.
Sections of left-wing who had tried to materialize the idea of “the party which is not a party” of social opposition dynamics, have gone bankrupt. In the near future the result of this will be seen and it will be a hybrid synthesis of neo-liberal/social-democrat. Those claiming that the socialization of the left is only possible by not mentioning about socialism at all have come to an end also. A politicization period is opened before the class. Time of those relying on bourgeois nationalism and taking a refuge under the six arrows (the symbol of social-democrats), is up. Because the triple alliance has established in the most open way.
There are many revolutionaries, marxist intellectuals, workers, old and faitfuls of the history of left, who were questioning if these ways have an advantage over the communist way, or who were attracted by the charm of some propositions, or who were attracted by the temporary power accumulation in one of these intentions, in the past. Today, the Party for Socialist Power thinks that it has the right of inviting these sections under the flag of communism.

We have assessed our tasks during the Congress process inside our party, and we have shaped them as decisions. I tried to explain the frame of these decisions. When you look at the last years’ Congress, you will see that I had displayed a more modest style and content.
Last year we were claiming that the scene which was seemed dark could be pierced or the thick curtain, which was seemed, totally closed could be opened partly, in our country.
Activities of the party were based on proving this to the enemies and friends.
Communist Party, which was established on 19 July 2000, is alive. It exists legally and will certainly continue to exist politically. Following this initiative, a newspaper called Communist has taken the fields for the first time in the history of our country. For the first time, posters signed by the Communist Party have dressed up the walls. Signature of the Communist Party has taken its place in the handouts, and it has become a placard waving in the meetings of workers and May Day. Those believing that “Freedom for Communist Party” slogan was meaningless, on the May Day of 2000, and those believing that this kind of a request was very difficult to be met in the circumstances of Turkey, should see these gains. They should remember the flag of Communist Party waving on May Day 2001 and they should accept that the thick curtain is opened partly.
My friends, 500 signatures collected for the return of citizenship of Nazim Hikmet say the same thing. The Party for Socialist Power had reached hundred thousands of people in a few months who claimed the communist and patriotic poet, and had brought their will into the light.
McDonalds’ who packed its bag and baggage and getting ready to live the revolutionary METU, is an example showing that more can be achieved. We answer those thinking even one branch of imperialism was a big target for the left wing as: Expel of imperialism from this country, as a whole is possible, too.
Comrades, friends, the Party for Socialist Power have tried to reassure our workers, and to give hope to our intellectuals, since then. The activating energy of morale and hope was needed for starting a more crowded and pretentious march. The Party for Socialist Power could create only some examples in this frame. We did.
And now my friends, a new phase is unfolding in front of our party and our working class. In this phase Party for Socialist Power is undertaking to go further than setting examples and prepare for the deadly blow to this order of plunder. Founding the Communist Party and keeping it alive for ten months and mobilizing the working class, intellectuals and student youth towards communism are very different tasks. Collecting 500 thousand signatures for the communist Nazim is an important achievement but our current task is introducing communism to masses and make communism a political movement. The task harder than kicking McDonalds out of METU is achieving our people to see the real enemy in imperialism and protect their land with all their souls.
The tasks in front of us will prove that the above-mentioned steps of the Party have taken last year are small and modest signs of what we can do. Our target is to get the working class organized and mobilized against the order of plunder, directly. The target is to equip the communist movement with legitimacy and socialization. The Party for Socialist Power has to realize a new socialization process of the left wing, which was rarely seen in our history. This is possible. This is possible objectively. Fifth Congress has declared that the Party is ready for such a bounce up, subjectively also.
Fifth Congress was the meeting of these decisions. Fifth Congress is a call to or working class and intellectuals in this direction. Fifth Congress is the proof of majority of the vanguarding communist party of Turkish and Kurdish workers. Fifth Congress is the good news of our socialist liberation.
