Guitar tablature

Does anyone know how to read guitar tabs...every where I've looked has taught me nothing...I need to know how to translate tabs into the chords they represent.

but tabs in itself are fairly easy...

for example if youve got a normal guitar(bass goes under the same "rules") the lowest line represents the highest line on the guitar, the darkest one that is... when it says "0" on the lowest line that means that you must play the darkest string without any grip. When it says "2" on the second lowest line it means that you push down the second darkest string on the second note. Got it?
