I was wondering if anyone had an idea of an Utopia? I know, a lot of you are realists and don't believe in this perfect world crap, but I believe it is important to believe in a perfect world, because then you would try to create it, without our imagination, what would we be?

I think Utopia would need to be constantly improving so people had something to aim for. This could either be personal like promotion or the society its self trying to improve.
I think rather than communism everyone being paid the same amount people should have a minimum standard of life so we can give hard workers praise!

Have a look at Thomas More's Utopia.

My opinion, as I have said before, there will always be good and evil at strife with one another. It is neccessary.

I'm rather fond of utopian (socialist) ideals. My favourate utopian socialist is the subject of my web site: -

Thomas Moore's Utopia was greatly faulted, i mean it was really unequal. Everybody spoke one language, why that one? THey had slaves, um, that's not equality, the unfairness in marriages, you know, women had to be 18, men had to be 22. It's really unequal.
My Utopia would be truly equal, like no unfairness, with lot's of voting, by everyone so everybody would have a say and junk.

You should read some of saintsimon's work, very interesting, you can really see the birth of modern socialism.

I think that if we follow our vision for a world of peace love and unity, that someday our dreams can give rise to a utopian world! ;)

Hmm, my Utopia would be a world with no worries: Hakuna Matata, everybody equal, but you know, the problem is that not everybody IS equal ... No money, definitly!!! People should be able to do what they want when they want (I'm talking about an Utopia, not something that would actually work) and for kids, we should be able to learn what we want when we want, not just the whole package in our first years of life ...

Utopia, eh? There are alot of things that could make a society perfect and i don't want to write a big long thing that nobody would read. I think the most necessary aspect of a utopian society (in my humble opinion) is a voting system which is 100% purely democratic. That is, if an issue is at debate, then every member of the nation can go to a voting poll and give their opinion. Not this bullshit that's in America now, where only the important electorates and the electoral colleges can decide such things as our president. Every person (within reason, not babies, ;) ) should be able to decide the fate and path of the country. This true freedom of choice is very important.

Utopia - everything is automated machines run everything farms factories and powerplants all products are just pooled to be shared out amongst everyone. Electric cars on huge electric highways. massive tree farms to provide the oxygen we need. Huge schools that teach people. A massive assembly where anyone can go to share their opinions, there would be set election dates rather people would put ideas forward to be voted upon with a deadline for all votes due in for. :D

Why not just make all nations very very small, so every member of the community can talk about what they think is necessary...

Dune Dx

because not every small area has all the resources it needs so we need large areas so we can ship resources around if that makes sense

God of Imperia

mmm, perhaps, but I would try to keep those areas as small as possible

in my view true communism would be a utopia, it may not be thye utopian philosophy but pure social harmony and equality is the perfect world.

I disagree, I think everyone is equal, visualize utopia, life it, feel it, seek it, If you are plauged by negitive feeling of unequality, than that will be your reality!

take my hand people, and follow me to the promised land!

I am talking about mother earth, she will give us all we need: natural resources, and happiness!

People should still have equal rights wether their different or not

God of Imperia
2nd April 2004, 20:28
I never said something about not having equal rights
I just said not everyone is equal (I'm not saying someone is less)
I'll give an example:
you take two guys, one of the likes sport the other dislikes it
it is wrong to say that both of them like sport or dislike sport; so they are not equal to eachother ...

Another Utopia of mine is this: You wipe out the borders of all the nations and you redivide the land in many small villages. All the villages are mainly agricultural minded, every village has his own local counsil of all the village members (older than 18), they can all say what they want and people can vote about the things, people can choose if they want to come or not, this is not obliged.

No money is needed, everyone gets what they need to survive, during their free time they can do what they want and education of the mind and body is encouraged. When a village has a bad harvest it should recieve help from other villages who had a good one.

To organize this their is for each 10 villages one main counsel, with 3 members of every village. The member are chosen every month, not with elections but by chance. Each member of a local counsil writes his name donw on a small piece of paper. All those papers are collected and put in a large pot or something, then a boy/girl of the age of 10 picks out 3 names. You're not obliged to go, you can pass if you want.

In my opinion, Utopia cannot be achieved by men, as there are too many flaws inherent in human nature. However, the concept of Utopia gives me something to work toward, so I'm down with it.
