I'm basically just looking to see what everyone thinks of him but ideally i'd like this to be a Will Self hate thread, I think he's a poxy wanker who uses obscure words with no hint at their contextual meaning and goes out of his way to do so. Just because I know what fantasmagorical means doesn't mean i'm positive so I continually find myself looking things up. It's not my fault and I'm not stupid he's just impractical conceded and a poseur. Will Self is is nothing but a pretentious irrelevant author who given the opportuntunity will self construct a story of personal greatness. Nobody has to agree of course but damn I hate him, he'll never equal the greatness of any of the beatniks or for that matter come close.

he's alright, nothing special.

I got tickets to see dylan moran (bernard from black books) today, which should be funny!

I also recently went to the best of british comedy at the royal albert hall, had alan partridge, jimmy carr, ricky gervais, jeff brydon and little britain. It was so good.

He's definatley not establishment.. He even has Ralph Steadman art accompany his pieces in the paper..

All authors are and should be pretentious. That's fiction. And I think it's great that he uses obscure words, that's something that's been lost from literature for a long time. He writes excellent prose; I for one have had enough of writers who use everyday English in their books and make no attempt to have any sort of richness of language.
Will Self is also about the most original writer out there in terms of his ideas.
