i'm sure you've all heard about bush's intention to put weapons, some nuclear, into space.
what really frightens me is that Canada's Prime Minister, Mr. Paul Martin (a freakin' banker) thinks we offended Bush when we refused to send troops to Iraq (but hey we sent a lot of money) so he's actually agreed to enter into discussions with Bush about the possibility of putting nuclear weapons in space. grow a goddamned spine Martin ... stand up to that ass.
Please tell me there are other people out there who are as scared by this as i am.

no it didn't ......... and now bush is thinking of moving beyond htat ... iam talking NUCLEAR WEAPONS and weapons of mass destruction here. and the worst is that Canada is will to discuss it rationally (likediscussions can be ration with gw bush) because we offended him when we didn't go to iraq.
you put nuclear weapons in space and humans are on the vergeof extinction at every moment.

If we wanted to find WMDs, we really didn't need to look very far, or even beyond our own shores. Luckily, Bu$h might be out of office before Star Wars ever becomes his reality.

:o Paul Martin is not worried that we upset the U$ in their oil-sponsored war.....He has never, ever supported them going into Iraq. He believes, as I am sure some people also do, that we are much better off being at the table when these issues are being discussed....
Nevertheless, I have joined in sending a petition to the Govt. protesting our involvement in any future dealings with the U$ on this issue....The petion is available here (http://www.ceasefire.ca)

The National Missile Defense thing gives the U$ and incredible advantage, military speaking. Though I think other advantages lurk behind the “safety of the nation”.
I remember once hearing an American amiral talking about the importance of the Navy in freeing the seas, therefore allowing free trade. Without getting into conspiracy theories, let’s just say that the line between corporations and war is extremely thin.

actually that's not true at all .... he himself has stated that he's afraid we have jeopardized our friendship with bush over iraq.

It's been that way since WWI (For modern War). Corporations REAP off of War. The Manufacrturing Industry rakes in. The Extraction Industry rakes in (Mining metals and now uranium). In modern times, the Technology and Service industry rakes in. War is no longer faught for terrirtorial dominance, It's faught for capital. This is the new reality.
The prospect of having military weapons floating above me frightens the bejeezus out of me. Lasers, Nuclear weapons...I like Sci Fi movies, I do, but emphisis is placed on the FICTION part of it. I really don't want to see a Star Destroyer gliding across the sky.

Ah, yes it is true! We did jeopordize our relationship with the U$ with their "You are either with us or against us" policy....What people need to realize is that it is the U$ who is now courting and trying to woo back "friends and allies", not the other way around!
Just because he knows this, does NOT mean he supports the Bu$h admin. or its policies....and he is agreeing that our nation should be at the table, not in support of their insane ideas of weaponizing space, but so we, as Canadians, know what is going on, what is being proposed and who is doing what to whom.
Unfortunately, we are still part of NORAD and the U$ is eyeing our installations in the North on the DEW Line.
