seriously geist says read some book then tell us how good education is, if education is not the way.
why am i not a racist why are you not racist if your not, and why are people racist. if its not about education what is it about.

I recommended Veogelin because he is an anthropologist and a a theorist of symbols.
He talks about how the race idea has developed over time from the various groups in history, not the Marxist over simplification of pro. and bour. but a little more in depth.
The idea of race is inherent and rascism is not something that is rid by education but by direct contact of people with other races that is not forced i.e. forced diversity, you know those happy go lucky groups.
Humans feel a certain mistrust of other races that cannot be eradicated by books, teachers but by life experience.

that makes more sense, though i have never been to school with another person of a different ethnic class, i am a pure white boy, the only contact i have with ethnic minorities are the ones i buy kebabs from! yet i am not racist.
my parents are racist in a non discriminate way as you say, they don't actively oppress or abuse ethnic minorities but they are as you say untrusting of ethnic classes expecially black men.
but on the whole fair point geist
i think of "don't call me white..don't call me white...it represents everything i hate" when i talk about racism

You see it is easier for you to tolerate or not be rascist towards groups you dont have to live with 24/7, in most working class areas there is an element of diversity and a feeling of encroachment. These people dont get the education you do to tell them not to be rascist.

that's very true. my father left central canada as only somewhat of a racist. when he came back from living in florida for numerous years he was so incredibaly racist against black people it was ridiculous.
but you have to wonder ... is it really education? I grew up ina racists, sexist, homophobic household and yet i've turned out to be against all of those. but i grew up in an area where htere is extreme racism particuarly against first nations peoples. it was evident everywhere...so what made me figure it out? i don't know. but i'm glad i turned out the way i did.
some say its cause some black person, or some indigenous person did something horrible to them once .. but why do we think that when a white person does something bad to us that we shouldn't hate all whites, whereas if a black person had done something to me it would be justifiable to hate all blacks. and trust me i've heard this before, it does happen.
any thoughts?
and education doesn't help with those who hate their own race. for example, many first nations people, educated or not, hate other first nations if they weren't born and raised on the rez ..... they've had first hand experience with racism and yet they perpetuate the situation.

Just one, Kaufmann once said that what we hate the most is what we react against the most and influences us, for example you have reacted against the rascism in your household and it has influenced your ideas about race, socialism etc.

but then i question this ..i am the oldest sibling ..... and yet my brother and sister are the same as the rest of my family .... are they reacting against me?

I said you are influenced by what you hate, they arent influenced because they dont hate it.
I am not talking generally about education, I dont believe rascism has any connection with education.

No connection with education? Education is what makes us the persons we are, if someone in our childhood like a father or a teacher kept tellings us black/... people are bad, etc then we would be influenced, we would react against it, like you said, or we would start to believe it ...

I never said it was not related to education, I blame education for rascism. I agre with your point but in a different sense.
