I think he's mysoginistic, homophobic little cock who blames his mother for everything wrong in his life.. His delivery is annoyingly nasal and there's no real substance in anything he says other than bile and hatred...

I don't know who said he's a fascist, but, that person is an idiot.
Eminem is alright in moderation I think, I'm not a big fan but I know a lot of people who like him. His voice is annoying, it's high pitched and squeeky at times, his beats are the same, he has annoying background noises in his songs, but his rhyming ability is probally one of the best that's rapping now.
There was also the thing about him being a racist a few months back for saying some stuff when he was like 15 about a girl he dated.
His content is pretty bad most of the time, although he has some highlights. His verse in Hellbound was off the wall:
I'll puke, eat it, and freak you (eww)
Battle? I'm too weeded to speak to
The only key that I see to defeat you
would be for me to remove these two Adidas and beat you
and force feed you 'em both, and on each feet is a cleat shoe
I'll lift you off your feet so fast with a roundhouse
you'll think I pulled the fuckin ground out from underneath you
(*****!) I ain't no fuckin G, I'm a cannibal
I ain't tryin to shoot you,
I'm tryin to chop you into pieces and eat you
Wrap you in rope and plastic, stab you with broken glass
and have you with open gashes strapped to a soakin mattress
Coke and acid, black magic, cloaks and daggers (ahhh!)
Fuck the planet, until it spins on a broken axis
I'm so bananas I'm showin up to your open casket
to fill it full of explosive gasses
and close it back with a lit match in it
while I sit back and just hope it catches
Blow you to fragments
Laugh, roll you and smoke the ashes

That makes it even worse in my book... To promote hatred to ignorant middle class white kids who (lets' face it) are his prime audience, to re-enforce social stereotypes in the name of controversey? Sick..

There will always be dumbasses who take a single person's words, joking or not for gospel. I wouldn't say Eminem lyrics are completeley without merrit.
To me he kinda lost it somewhere in between the slim shady LP , th mm lp.

Then there's Eminem's buddy 50 Cent:
"I ain't into faggots," 50 says in an interview in the April issue of Playboy, which hits stands Friday. "I don't like gay people around me, because I'm not comfortable with what their thoughts are. I'm not prejudiced. I just don't go with gay people and kick it — we don't have that much in common. I'd rather hang out with a straight dude. But women who like women, that's cool."
Mmmmm ignorance.

That's a pity.. That people are more exposed to Eminems brand of rap and then conclude that it is all shit..
Rap or more significantly Hip Hop - is the most important original art-form of the late twentieth century..
And if you seek out the originators and those who continue to develop the art-form and those who educate and comment socially through the medium You may just change your opinion..
50 cents comment are absolutley appalling, not only is he re-enforcing black stereotypes, but degrading women and inciting hatred of homosexuals.. I don't care how catchy his tunes may or may not be, the man is a fucking joke..

I hate all rap music with a passion, with the following single exception: -
Gangsters paradise by coolio (or however the fuck you spell it.)
Which is at least tolerable.

You'd probably then prefer Stevie Wonders "Pastime paradise" The original from which Coolio plundered..

Rap/ hip hop has mostly criminal/sexual etc aspect to it. but people like me just don't gt affected by that shit.
i don't care how much money ass-wipe got, young people need to think for a moment and see that the rappers make money from music not violence but people are just so ignorant these days

No true music lover should ever discount an entire genre of music (except techno), especially when you are basing your opinions/feelings on flavor of the month type artists. Rap/Hip-hop is a great form of music but you'll never hear the greatness if you just listen to the crap that is put in front of you by the big record companies.
On a side note I just read that Epitaph Records, the ones who brought you Bad Religion and other great punk rock has signed The Coup to a record deal of some sort.

I'm pretty sure eminem aint homophobic, I mean he made it a point to perform with elton john, an openly gay man. But maybe that didn't mean shit.
I don't like his music except for my name is, but that's about it.
He's an exteremely talented lyricist, too bad he's always rapppin about killin people and other stupid shit like that.

He sounds like a 10 year old girl on helium. I passionately hate him though the 8-mile soundtrack was semi-decent. ICP is far superior.

when i said i dis-like rap i meant the corporate music, but i dont like mutch corporate music.
I love the beastie boys and Run DMC, Public Enemy are pretty good as well.
I wouldn't dis-count a whole genre of music because of one artist.

You don't eat meat because "meat is murder" and yet you support a rapper who has built his career on female-hating lyrics. All he raps about is beating women, raping, killing, drugs and violence. He's not smart, he's got very little talent and he needed something to get the medias attention. He's not standing up against authority...he is mainstream pop. I think you give him far too much credit and intelligence. The guy needed an angle.
The only good rap is the non "bling bling" rap. Where there is actually a point to what is being said. Like Beastie Boys, Run DMC, Rage Against the Machine, Black Eyed Peas. They stand up because they don't sell out.

He has to be a little smart to get into the minds of all those people who buy his music. I mean you can't be an idiot and create catchy songs that will get people to buy your records or be an idiot and run a record label.

Beastie Boys going from fighting for the right to party to freeing Tibet, Run DMC does a soda commercial to hornor Jam Master Jay and Rage isn't rap. 2 out of the 3 don't have any messages in their music. Run DMC was the first materialistic rap, talking about "my addidas" and all that other shit.

ok, lets give credit where credit is due: eminem is one of the best lyricist around when it comes to battling. his old shit (before his first mainstream cd) was incredible, in the battling sense. if you have heard his old rap olymics stuff, you would be like "damn!"
with that said, his homophobic, sexist, and anti-women lyrics are horrible. i stopped listening to him after his first cd, especially since he tried to come out flowig against Dilated Peoples, at the time one of my favorite groups. Dilated Peoples came off tight against him, though, with the track Searching for Bobby Fisher. his whole style is now based completely off of the shock value, which in my opinion people are not going to buy into anymore (at least true hip-hop heads). i remember when his second cd came out, i was at a music store, buying some underground hip-hop, and the person selling me the cd was like "do you want to reserve your eminem copy?" i told him "nah" he then replied with, "yea, i didnt expect you to want one considering you are into the underground shit." most underground hip-hop people i know cant stand the guy now.
for some good hip-hop, check out:
The Basement
Crimson Gaurd
Digable Planets
The Roots
Dead Prez
Visionaries
DJ Shadow (although he is a bit different type of hip-hop)
also check out the link hampton gave you. i havent heard his stuff, but i hear its really good. a guy i organized with last year may be doing an interview with him for a paper i work on soon, too.

Don't worry I was, to a certain extent at least. I do think that a lot of people dismiss him as something and that'll be it, they've made their decesion and won't change it. But, I do think that there is a lot of aspects to making this music that people over look. If you have great lyrics but you sound like you have marbles in your mouth or you're running out of breath before the first 16 bars are done, nobody's gonna listen to you, and he dosen't seem to have that problem and I just think it's something that people don't notice.

The first "great" white rapper will always be popular. And, no, Vannilla Ice wasn't serious enough to be "great". How many other white rappers do you see out there right now, who rap about what he raps about? Very few. Because the industry is milking him for what he is worth right now, and millions of dillusional teens are lapping it up. The man sickens me, and I find myself ignoring many of the things he does.

d12+eminems video 'my band' i think its called is such a stupid video im very disappointed in him/them but then again they have always been kinda weird just now there taken it to another level.
on 50cent, i think his next album will be shit but people will still buy it then realise its crap then thats the end of his game.
these days there too much shit like chingy and nelly in hip hop which i consider as hip POP it's so fake and the lyrics are very weak, i would rather see a real rapper rapping about murder then pussys like chingy MC'ing about what girls he had sex with and what car he was in blah blah blah

He doesnt actually rape women and beat his mother. why must everything be taken so litteraly? Hes a lyrical geniuse. And maybe u could take some notes on this: he was underground, rapping with ICP (insane clown posse, inner city posse, they change it quiet often), but then they kicked him out. A dude has to make a living...

Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake...blah blah blah...all have catchy songs which have made them lots of money...so they're smart? And really who runs the record label? Eminem or Dre? Isn't he just Dre's puppet? A way for Dre to go mainstream and appeal to white america.
Run DMC - listen to their songs "Wake Up" and "Pause"
If Rage isn't rap then what is it? Rock? Zack isn't exactly crooning ballads.
The Beastie Boys were rapping about having a social conscious (or conscience?) long before they wanted to free Tibet (which by the way is a very worthy cause). Try "Sure Shot" Here are some lyrics from it... "Here's a little something that's long overdue. The disrespect of women has got to be through so to our moms and sisters and wives and friends I wanna offer my love and respect to the end."
I'm not saying groups don't need to market themselves. Obviously they do, look at our society. Kids need to feel cool and in style so bands need to cater to that to get their message across. The good bands can offer both but how solid is someone when they can only offer one?
And no not everything has to be taken seriously but look at our society. Why make things worse than they already are? Why spread hatred when you can spread peace. Eminems fans idolize him and that puts him in a position where he could effect real positive change. Or he could sing about raping women. You (Dark Angel) say that's it's a harmless song. I think you have a fortunate point of view. But I think the 1 in 4 women who have been raped may take it differently (and that's just a statistic of women who have actually reported being raped to the police, a lot do not). I hope you never know.
Hopefully, his 15 minutes are almost up. Although since we are debating about him I see that he's still got a couple. Geesh!
