Vietnam is probably one of the greastest victories of a communist revolution and guerrilla insurection and yet know one seems to speak about it . It is a light subject for the western world , but we must speak about it . We call Cuba the last Communist nation but in many ways Vietnam is as successful .
Vietnam has a 93.7 % literacy rate
It has 25% unempl0yment rate
Which is much higher then other Asian countires.
And Laos is also a Communist state and it has done well.
Laos has a unemployment rate of 5.7 % .
It has Literacy rate of 57 % .
None of these nations may be perfect but they nay still be potential allies and should not be forgotten .

The officially "communist" state that no one ever seems to mention is Laos. And that is even more of a one party state than China or North Korea.

It truely seems that one of the first revolutions of the world has failed . Many countries fell to what was supposed to be socialism but ended up being destroyed in and after the cold war . But , I feel if we pay attention to the mistakes of these regimes perhaps we can create true change . Now currently there are various uprisings happening at this time , but which should truely be seen as legitmate and not mearly self interest . The media succesfully has the blindfold on all of us , so we must discover for ourselves who is truely just and begin to take steps to support them and even go as far as fight with them and help them organize more effeciently . It is not a simple task but , the time has come for us few people , who woke up from the capitalist nightmare to begin helping not in one way but all ways possible . For although some of us do not want war it may become necessary . But more necessary would be information , protest , and true charitable contributions through a socialist group instead of the other groups whom seem to fumble the money around before it gets to the people , if it ever gets there . Basically , instead of waiting for change in a country to think about government , why not create a pseudo one , that does everything government should without the control . By supporting the people , educating them , feeding them , and when it come down to it bringing them together to defend themselves . Such is the dream I have created , I need to rework it more but it is my truest ideal . And if anyone has the ability or power to put this into action before I am able by all mean do so . The People of Earth , have suffered through wars and famines for ages , but I feel they have suffered the most since the age of imperialism to now . What will change feel like in the end , it shall feel good . And as long as I live , I shall dedicate myself to the people of this planet no matter whom they are , from the education of the capitalists , to true peace for the peoples of the third world . Can humanity not see the dawn of a new age , in this life !

I know for a fact that up until 1995 it was communist (encyclopedia encarta 95) but I dont know if it has changed. The countrys what were communist are U.S.S.R, Cuba, North Korea, Vietnam, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Ethiopia, Somalia, Angola, Mozambique, Mongolia, Laos, Cambodia, Syria and a few others. I know all eastern european countrys are no longer communist and Cuba, North Korea and Laos are still communist but Im not quite sure about the others.

Oh, shit, how could I forget China. Mao Zedong was one of the most influencial figures in the revolution. A million apologies.

Nicaragua, Hungary, Grenada, Congo, Yemen, Poland, East Germany.

Although I never heard of Syria being communist before, I seem to remember they've been a one party state since the 70s, although (despite what someone I know thought) there are many ways of defining what a communist state is.

Current communist countries are

China
North Korea (officially socialist, autocracy)
Vietnam
Cuba
Laos (Although many call this simply a "one party state" now)

Vietnam was a laugh for the Commies as well. We showed the Capitlast Americans that they cannot enforce their will upon people just because they don't like something that is different. Thank God that Cuba, China and other places are still Communists.

Moldova (in eastern europe) has an elected Communist government, as does West Bengal in India.

Part of Nepal is under control of Maoist fighters

Ex-communists are being re-elected all over eastern-europe and ex-communist countries. East German communists are doing particulaly well, allied with the German Socialists (the "red-red" coalition)

Yes, thank you for reminding me of Moldova. CIA doesn't call it communist because the government was actually elected.

i know that last may the vietnamese congress declared its adherence to the path ofsocialism at a time when china was attempting to join the wto. also, ex-communists were re-elected in poland late last year.

It's more an pink-red coalition, the German social-democrats are as much socialists as the labour party in britain. And I wouldn't call the PDS communist, they are reformed communists, they call themself "democratic socialists". They still have some communist groups organized within their party (like the "Kommunistische Plattform" and the "Marxistische Forum"), but they have not much influence on the party. Actually the PDS agreed to nearly everything what the SPD asked them for. Most things they did so far are totally opposing to their party programme. As I always say: There are no good governments in capitalism...
