It's American, so the film is most likely sprinkled with steroetypical views of Anarchists.

Is that law which forbids Anarchists from entering America still around? I read about it but i doubt it is still law.

don't think the filmmaker had any understanding of what anarchism is upon setting out to make this film. anarchism is not merely nihlism (belief in nothing) or libertarianism (rejection of government). it also has nothing to do with chaos or destruction for the sake of destruction. although there are many different variations on it, anarchism is most simply defined as the rejection of heirarchy in personal relations. this does means that anarchists reject the institutions of the state and capitalism, but it also means that anarchists reject sexism, racism, classism, homophobia, etc, which the filmmaker didnt seem to realize, especially with the so-called "anarchists" in the film teaming up with nazis. the rejection of heirarchy also means decisions are made on a collective basis, meaning that a johnny black couldnt just come sweeping in and take over so easily like that, becoming a "vanguard" of the people.

that link was quite interesting. i'm still not sure how i feel about the movie. the movie starts out with a kinda nice anarchistic/hippy flop house but it all turns out to be very very wrong, having an alliance with nazis and such. yet somehow the main character seems to reject anarchism in his true self ...

so then my question ... what does the film say to me? one thought (mentioned at the link) was that anarchy allows facism to arise .. but that's not really true .... the only way a 'leader' like johnny black (pro violence ... by any means necessary type guy) could emerge is if everyone agreed to it .... and even then, at that very moment, anarchy would cease to exist .... and likely anarchists would not be willing to give that up.

yeah i don't know.

i wish someone else on this board would watch it so we could discuss it. please folks.....watch the movie...i need help here.

I saw that movie but I'm unsure as to whether anything can be learned from it. "Anarchism" means alot of different things to alot of different people. The movie is too centered on the characters and doesn't give a good account of Anarchism or even try to. Maybe the only message I can find is: don't be a follower. Once the group accepts jonny black as their leader the whole thing falls apart, they fall apart. The one who is most reticent, Puck, is in the end the only one who can put an end to the madness. Where ever you are keep your head on your shoulders and think for your self.

i've seen the movie.. but in the end you have to keep in mind that they were nihilists when they met with the nazi's and united to become a force until puck drugged there pancakes but a true anarchist wouldn't really follow a certain person or change their ways for him because everyone is equals and such if i'm correct with my thinking
