Hello comrades, it's been ages since I was last here (I wonder if people still remember me), i've been really busy taking part in the thriving anti-war movement here in the SF bay area. By the way, I totally love the new look of the website and the community itself. Anyway i'll cut to the chase, there's this website called thedilly.com and they have a forum kinda like ours. Someone posted a topic about bringing back communism, and it's turned into a pretty heated debate. Right now there's very few people posting to defend it, and we could use some reinforcements. If any of y'all are members of this site I urge you to join in on the debate, if not then join the site, it's free and fun, you can post pics of yourself and meet interesting people (it's kinda like friendster). Well that's all, i'm glad to be back in this site and I look forward to making more posts, i'll post a link to the site below.

Hey, whoever it was that came to help thank y'all. We're winning the debate!! The reactionaries are resorting to lowbrow arguements, this is totally awesome, to be able to sharpen our selves ideologically online. Maybe we can start infiltrating various online communities and build virtual mass bases, you know to prepare ourselves for the real revolutionary organizing.

here's something a reactionary posted on thedilly.com forum
"Instead of letting our communist frienmds control the tempo of this argument, I think it would be better for them to defend their ideas.
You want a planned economy? Tell me how you plan to make it work.
You want to pay everyone the same wage? Tell me how you will motivate people to go through years and years of school for thankless professions.
How will you control the massive corruption that will result from consolodating power into solely a government? How will the party be able to respond to the demands of the people. A republic and democracy do this through elected representation or direct power to everyone.
No communist state has had the answers for this, and I dont foresee it happening anytime soon. The beauty of capitalism is that everything does not have to be figured out, governments are simply tweaking rather than inventing. And as a moral standpoint, a forced equality program is just as greedy as thievery. Who is anyone to say that everyone is rich did not deserve their money? Who are you to say what is a luxury and what is not? Is there not a better way to make everyone happy than to steal from people?"
Some arguing points to counter this will be helpful.
thanx in advance comrades

I read thedilly thread. It's easy pickings, but far too misinformed to even begin to correct.
You want a planned economy? Tell me how you plan to make it work.
This question is an argumentative trick. We cannot succinctly explain how a planned economy will work, but nor can it be succinctly explained how The Market supposedly works!
You want to pay everyone the same wage? Tell me how you will motivate people to go through years and years of school for thankless professions.
Firstly, everyone does not have to receive the same wage, only income gaps must be reduced to prevent classes from reappearing. We commonly quote that in a communist society "from each according to his ability, to each according to his needs!" But it must not be forgotten that a few sentences earlier it is stated that until the productive forces are capable of fulfilling everyone's interest, "To each according to his work." To communicate this to the status quo would require abolishing their preconceptions that the rich actually do any work.
Secondly, when schooling is not run for profit, i.e. a university education will not be insanely expensive, people will learn new disciplines simply for something to do. If I could learn biology, chemistry, history, etc. at dead cost, I'd take them all--repeatedly.
The remainder of the quote posted above is simply typical capitalist prejudice, assumptions that only capitalism can have a balance of power, democracy, etc. It is all quite ironic, seeing as the U.S. considered itself democratic even through the slavery system!
And as for the rest of the thread, it seems to all be arguments over the USSR. We shouldn't simply say "The USSR wasn't socialist!" But instead say "We praise the so-called 'Communist' countries for their progressive content, but reprimand them for their terrible bureaucratic deformations." And finally, it must be admitted that, yes, based solely on self-interest, I'd rather live in the U.S.A. than Cuba... but to this it must be added that I'd rather live in the USSR than in 1916 or 1996 Russia!
