Ironweed collective is a group of anarchists in my city (Albany) who are very active in the activist community, are very well organized and kind of hang out in my apartment a bit too much than I'd like haha...

The Ironweed Collective is a community of resistance located in downtown Albany, NY. The goal of the collective is to provide its members with the possibility of a communal lifestyle in an urban area while experimenting with urban sustainability projects.
Inspired by the Zapatistas and indigenous societies around the world, we wish to recreate an egalitarian lifestyle in all aspects of our daily life. This extends to our relationship with food, health care, clothing, energy, education, and, most importantly, each other.
In addition, we organize around issues of inequality and exploitation prevalent in our society such as foreign and domestic imperialism, the prison industry, police brutality, gentrification & environmental destruction. The form of our protest includes everything from gardening to copwatch to art to block parties to direct action.
We meet every Monday at 7pm at 98 Grand St. All meetings are open to the public except for the third Monday of each month. The second meeting of each month is reserved for a discussion on various forms of oppression and oppressive behavior. Our meetings are based on consensus process.
