HAHAHAHAHA!!
No other option this time!

This time I think I included some more popular options.
I took some of the written votes from the other thread, but I couldn't take some of those guys you fellas listed that I don't even think are among the top 50 bassists.

Entwistle sucks balls compared to Jack Bruce (and Noel Redding...)

Yeah. You still kinda forgot Noel Redding. However, I voted Les Claypool simply because he rocked my face off when I saw him live.

What is Paul McCartney doing up there? No offence to any who like him, but his bass playing skills arne't really up to par with most of the options shown there.

I frankly do not believe Noel Redding to be among the best 10 or so bassists.

I added McCartney becasue I though it would be a popular choice, since he was with the Beatles and stuff.

I think even he is better than Redding.
Not that Redding is bad, just not quite up there.
I'd say that McCartney is among the top 20 and Redding is around the top 40 greatest bassists.
Billy Cox is much, much more talented than Noel Redding.

Yeah, Jack Bruce rocks.
I still preffer Entwistle, though.

I vote for Les.

I saw him live and it kicked ass. I'm quite a fan of Primus's music.

Seriously Les Claypool is the bass god!! I'm not that fond of much of Primus' music, but on some songs i'll crank the lower end of the EQ and just drool over the bass lines!! i mean anyone that can solo at 126 bmp for 46 bars on a fretless 6 string bass derserves some cred!

and although i'm not into that scene anymore people u should definately check out Ryan Martinie from Mudvayne.......holy fuck goes along way to describing his ability!

Be glad I don't know where you live.

Billy Cox IS better, though. But you have to consider the fact that Band of Gypsies played a funkier music, so the bass stould out.

Sir Paul McCartney is a wanker and is about as deserving as Sid Vicious. Sid was way more entertaining though.

I think that you guys are under rating McCartney.
Ok, I'll admit there are a few who are better than him and who I did not mention, but he is still good.
Listen to some of his stuff after the Beatles.

And Noel Redding is good too.
Am I alone in thinking that Paul McCartney is a slightly better bassist than Noel Redding?

Most likely. The only "greatest" list that Paul McCarntey should figure in is "Greatest Assholes of Rock n Roll".

the poll to end poll would have to have polls to create final polls surely

like best punk
best metal
best rock
best pop
and so on then take the top two from each to form the final poll

just a thought

My grandad was a bass guitarist in the 1960's. He was in a small local band, and they once got quite close to the UK Top 100.
