I read somewhere (I can't remember where now) that Lenin's true intent for USSR was not for it to be communist after his death. I think he wanted otherwise for it through his predecessor, Trotsky. Of course Stalin took over and installed his type of "Evil Communism" and pretty much pissed all over Comrade Lenin. So we'll never truly know what the fate of the USSR could've been if Trotsky would've lived to be Lenin's predecessor and wether or not he would've changed the Soviet Union's government type. What does the community think on this?

From what ive read Lenin wanted it to be a Communist country, in the initial stages it did not take on that look but he hoped for the withering away of the state. Stalin was the one who was power hungry he wanted to control the situation and spoke negatively of those who advocated politics without leaders. I think had trotsky taken over things would have developed more effectively and perhaps we wouldnt have seen so much destruction, peace.

reading through Lenin's works there are a few things that strike me as to his thinking. He described the nascent Soviet state as a workers and peasants state
with gross bureaucratic distortions. Many times in his writings, he sees the task of the Soviet state as a holding operation and considers the dire necessity of
a revolution in Germany to save the revolution in Russia and develop it elsewhere. The failure of the German revolution was a great disappointment to the Bolsheviks and gave the opportunity for Stalin to develop the idea of socialism in one country theory which finally become the subservice of the international communist movement to the interests of the Soviet State, which Stalin largely equated with his own self serving interests.
The great historical tragedy of the last century, whose consequences have been enourmous and led to the delay of the world revolution. A delay that can not continue indefinitely.
Forever till victory
