i think people who make movies from dull and boring 70s shows should be shot.

Have you seen the movie Truthaddict ? It's actually really damn good. The people who did the movie had nothing but disdain for the 70's show, they make fun of Starsky and Hutch through the whole movie.
Ben Stiller acts about as well as a rock, but together with Owen Wilson he's actually pretty funny. Come to think of it, every movie they've been in together has been good. Meet The Parents, The Royal Tenenbaums, Zoolander.

"Do it!"
Yeah Zoolander was hilarious too, I love it that I watched S & H two weeks before it was premiered in Britain - on a perfect copy I brought from these Chinese dudes down Brick lane..£5
Stiller & Wilson are genious together..

big earl was hilarious!
The scene with the kid and the knives almost made me cry with laughter...also the guitar scene, and pony scene.

Zoolander was actualy pretty bad.
Except the Center for Children Who Can't Read Good.
Meet the Parents was one of the best comedies made recently.
The Royal Tenenbaums was also an absolute masterpiece.
Starsky and Hutch was ok.
Not nearly as good as TRT or Meet the Parents.
I find the lesbian homoerotic scenes that have become hugely popular lately and are obviously targeted at straight men as being extremely chauvinistic for the gender role that it slowly places on women. It's now popular belief that sexy, straight women like to kiss other women. This is disgusting, obviously not true, and only a male fantasy created by crap movies.
Aside form that , the movie was all-around mediocre.

"Well I guess you can Derelict my balls capitan"
"I was always more interested in what bark was made out of on a tree"
"Put a sock in in Zane"
Or
"They won't be looking for - not us"
I can see you laughing!

"is there anything more to life than being really really ridiculously goodlooking?"
the part i enjoyed the most was the gas station photo-shootesque scene where the one dude lights a cig and they all blow up......

C'mon, you know you love it.
I'm exicted for the new Will Ferrel movie, he plays a super cheesy news anchor named "Tom Burgundy".

Well excuse me Mr. Pretentious. I happen to like retarted comedies. I also saw Eternal Sunshine, and I liked it, but I also like a dumb comedy.
I like all kinds of movies, I'm sure I like many of the ones that dry movie snobs like yourself enjoy.
edit: And you're making fun of me for liking this when you yourself say Shanghai Nights ? Damn, even I didn't see that pile.

I'd like to second the love of retarded comedies. The human brain needs a good dose of stupidity every now and then.

And I third that emotion, I love clever shit like Coen bros or Kaufman but it doesn't make me laugh out loud, it just makes feel smug in the knowledge that I understand high brow humour.. Zoolander, S&H are'nt trying to be clever or different - just bloody funny and they work.. Roll on the Dukes of Hazard..
