Did I miss it, or does Che-lives not have THE picture in its gallery? You know which one I mean, it's the picture on every t-shirt, and on most of this site's banners. Why isn't it in there?

Here it is.
Yeah, you're right, it isn't in the gallery... strange.
Welcome to che-lives, by the way.

*pointing upward* That's the one. I wish I could remember more about it. That's the pic that is on every t-shirt, poster, etc. I knew the history of it, and now I can't remember the story behind it. Thanks RedZepplin, I feel welcome, I like this site. I've been a posting maniac in my few short days here.

EDIT: Can we put it in the gallery? I have the photo, full size, it even shows another man next to him.

I
knew the history of it, and now I can't remember the story behind it.

It was taken by Korda in 1960, during a rally. A cargo carrying arms was suppose to get to Cuba, but he was destroyed by counter revolutionaries (backed by US?). 100 were killed.

I should mention that Time picked the Korda picture as one of the 100 most influential photgraphs of the 20th century. That was the first time I had seen it as a normal picture.

Man, Che sure was a snappy dresser, wasn't he? Heh..

By the way, thanks for the info, Solace. I've always wondered where that picture came from.

Are you really good ol' Lefty who left Che-lives for a while to come back? Or are you Left and I am hallucinating the "y".

I'm glad to see you back. Very glad that is to say.

Its funny, that shot of his face is so famous and most frequently taken out of context that the origional almost seems unreal. Like his face is more a 2d symbol then part of a real photograph. Like "Alberto Korda didn't do such a great photoshop job on that, you can tel that the famous che head is way to big for those shoulders, and they're not turned the right way."

I can see that in the picture too, about how the head seems tro be a 2cd symbol.

It does look like somone's pasted Che's head on, but i think its probbaly due to our perceptions of his face as a symbol of him and how we see Che.

I thought it was taken during a speech Fidel was giving at a wake or something along those lines?
