I remember reading this story in english class, in grade 10. I heard they made it into a movie as well. it was my favourite short story that year.

When I read it in 10th grade English the teacher used it as anti-communist propaganda. :(
Obviously it's a load of lies.

It stresses a particular aspect of equality that totally absurd and has never been sought by any socialist.

What is a load of lies exactly? Didn't Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot try to coerce and enforce equality on people, even at the expense of freedom?
