Hello fellow comrades.

I´m a huge fan of Che and the revolution as all of you are. I think Che was one of the greatest human being that lived in the 20th century. However i must say I am a little disappointed with many of the people who write on this message board. I think it´s ridicilous to speak of Fidel Castro as someone who failed or an evil dictator. I mean no disrespect to Che when i say that Fidel is a bigger hero than Che was. Fidel accomplished a lot more and he was the heart and brain of the revolutionaries. We must not forget that Cuba with Fidel in command has improved greatly, real poverty doesn´t exist there and basic social welfare is probably the best in all North and South America (including th U.S.)

I don´t want you to misunderstand me as a anti-che i am like I said before probably one of his biggest fans. What I am trying to say by this message is that please dón´t speak badly of Fidel he is also a great hero and a true socialist.

greetings from iceland

I am not anti-Fidel but maybe the reason why he accomplished a whole lot more than Che did is because Che died early and Fidel is still living right now. I am sure that if Che were still alive today, Castro and him would still be working together to bring down oppression. But I think that even if Che is already dead, the spirit of the revolution that he has inspired amongst all of us will forever be alive and through this, Che has accomplished more than he ever thought he did.

Welcome to Che-lives! How is the ice in Iceland? :D

I agree wiith che's long lost daughter though I admire Fidel intensely too. If Che is alive , sure they would work together and the result would be a result of synergical success. The world would be a different place if Che is still living and fighting at the side of Granny Fidel.

Fidel and Che together made a formiddable team. Fidel with his passion for social justice, his charisma and the ability to gain emense support from the masses. Then Che, who was an excellent military tactician, idealist, shared Fidel's passion for justice and also was as much respected as Fidel.

Oh come on, "excellent military tactian" is an attribute of fidel, not che. Che was, at least once after the cuban revolution, presented a better chance of success than fidel, and he didnt suceed.

I have to disagree that Che wasn´t a good military tactician. If you just look at what he did with his column in the Cuban war. One cannot forget that he led the way to Havana and won the crucial battle of Santa Clara.

I think that the main reason why he didn´t succeed in Congo or Bolivia is that he didn´t have enough local support. One cannot forget the support of the local peasants in the Sierra Maestra, it was priceless and the revolution never would have taken place if it wasn´t for them. What Fidel probably had more then Che was the charisma to charm the people with him. And of course the Bolivian communist party betrayed Che, I think that their leader, Mario Monje (i think) should have been arrested and shot by the Cubans.

I have to say that I have never looked at Che as a failure because of his Bolivian adventure, quite the contrary.

p.s. The ice in Iceland is cold, but beautiful.

p.p.s. Has anyone her read Che: A memoir (Fidel Castro), Diary of the Cuban revolution (Carlos Franqui), Fidel´s Cuba: A revolution in pictures (Osvaldo Salas) or seen Fidel (documentary) by Estela Bravo? I really would like your comments of them because i´m thinking of buying them.

Greetings from Iceland.

I have to disagree. In my opinion, Che lived revolution (as did Fidel), but the revolution consumed Che's entire life so much that he felt it his duty to go around the world and birth armed revolt. Fidel is a charismatic figure no doubt, but Che was a spitfire that fought opression and breathed revolution.

Yo Icy,

I 've seen Fidel (documentary) by Estela Bravo. I saw how the people interact with Fidel in front of the camera, the people use "tu" to address him and they exclaim their needs to Fidel and Fidel listened carefully.
