Anyone like Gangs of New York? Leonardo suprised me, hes not that bad of an actor. Just goes to show, US people has to have someone to ate at any given moment, this time its the Irish lol. I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it.

Really good film - deserved to win an oscar but didn't because it reveals the violence of America's past.

it was a very good film. Violentized? the violence just helped to intensify the story.

I thought it looked stupid. But lately I started hearing good things. This thread has motivated me to go and rent it.

Only problem, everytime I see a movie with Leo...I see him as the character from 'What's eating Gilbert Grape'.

Leo has gotten pretty good, fuckin Catch Me If You Can was kickass, that guy lives in Oklahoma now, the acting was great. I dug the gang fights, haha it was "old school"

I've always liked dicaprio; and i thought he and D-day were great together. There were a couple silly things in the movie, some bad extras I thought but over-all what a great movie. A review in my local paper when the movie opened said that scorsese had made an 'animal farm like critcism of modern US democracy'. i think its a little simlified but basically was like this: bill and the natives are the repulicans, and tammany are the democrats. we the people are used and hated by both groups but could easily takeover if we simply could use mass action. anyway i read that after i saw the movie, went back- saw it again, and thought- yeah that's kind-of on point. what do you all think?
