Well, first off, this is not based whatsoever on any facts, just what I'm thinking right now. Oh yeah, and I don't do any drugs, I haven't ever.
Anyhow, so yes here's my argument for why drugs should be legalized:

First, think of all the crime statistics that you hear in relation to drugs... aren't most of them the result of people actually being so desperate for drugs they have to resort to crime to get them? Well if you could buy reasonable amounts of drugs at your local DRUG store... then you wouldn't have people getting stabbed all the time. Your giant, rich corporations would take over drug growing, trafficking, and distribution. Little dealers wouldn’t be able to compete, there wouldn’t be drug wars. Big tobacco would be selling it… so would McDonalds…it’s be great! Isn’t that the American Capitalistic way? Capitalism with no bounds. In fact, you should be able to sell anything. We can sell guns, alcohol, cigarettes, all things that kill us. Why should we not be able to sell/buy drugs legally? I mean, if we put laws into affect similar to DWI and underage drinking/smoking laws, then what would the problem be? Tons of people escaping reality, they do that anyhow with alcohol. And yes, drugs are very detrimental, but part of what lures people to try them is the fact that it's illegal. I mean, when I turn 21, drinking isn't gonna be the same. If it's legal but looked down upon in society then people would be less likely to use drugs. Peer pressure is the most powerful motivational tool. In fact, we should have just sent a bunch of teens over to Iraq. Imagine them all telling Sadam that stepping down from power and opening a tye-dye was the cool thing to do... he'd have given in lol. But seriously tho, what are your arguments for legalizing drugs, or keeping them illegal.

The only problem with this is that it's easier to grow and mature marijuana than tobacco. Even making alcohol has it's difficulties when it comes to the processing and creation of. If you make marijuana legal, then people would simply just grow it - opposed to buying it from the corporate machine.

Other drugs, I'm guessing, would follow the same plan. Imports would out-do the local markets, therefor you'd probably see tariffs on Afghan-grown opium and Columbian-grown cocaine. It'll just be a complex situation.

Soft Drugs Vs. Hard Drugs, there is a big difference, Hard drugs ie. coke and heroine will and should remain illegal, at least for recreational use. For medical treatment and withdrawal of the drug, doses should be available by physicians and rehabilitation clinics.

To legalize marijuana, a soft drug, ie. not highly addictive " the medicial erb"
This dilemma is in the hands of America, which is the world's main importer of vitimen J
It must be legalized strait across north america, and or south america, to work politically, because the international issue would cause a riot if canada or mexico legalized and the US did not! And yes, if it were federally regulated it could be developed to produce a profit.

I think that the first step in the US should be a complete decriminalization of marijuanna, similar to that of Canada, where people are not put in jail for a simple possession charge! But that may not be easy to do when you have privitized jails throughout the US, its apart of the economy, the anti-drug campaign is big business, maybe bigger than legalization and distribution could be!

Lets face it people are always going to get high! Illegal or legal

right! Ive never heard of anyone dying of a pot overdose. And I think thats the reason restrictions of some sort should be put on everything else. If the government controedl it, there wouldnt be X that kills, same with coke or herion.

I hate drugs. I almost lost my son to an overdose. and have countless friends who died senselessly. But I an in favor of legalizing. I supose the closest analogy would be abortion. Since it was legalized, the number of deaths due to botched abortions have fallen greatly.
