If some Hollywood studio randomly decided to give you hundreds of millions of dollars to produce any movie you wanted, what would you make?
It can be as political as you want or an art or genre movie with no overt or intentional political content.

A historical film about Hekmat Mansoor and the Komalah would be great. If not explicitly political, I would make something like Gummo or Kids (even though I despise Harmony Korine as a person)

Nerd! Leftie-nerd :)
Both are nerdy- just to be clear. I love it. Don’t worry my answers will be just like that too!
Keep em coming!

Um, I was going to say *exactly* what CommunistOrganon said.... (grin)
I happen to like the whole 'Matrix' world for its themes, including that of some kind of struggle, so I'd probably make a post-Matrix movie that's even *realer* and that contained even *less*-veiled themes that alluded to real-world class-based struggle, with far less Messianic content. You're welcome. (grin)

An interesting interview by my friend David Pearce about transhumanism and suffering
I like futurism, communist-transhumanism and sci-fi a lot. I would make a movie about how the world would be in a future communist one world anarchist nation without borders, without money just like the super advanced stage of socialism would be, a super-advanced world population, mentally, physically and emotionally and humans would have communication and relations with extraterrestrial races from other planets. There would be already time travel, faster than light speed traveling, teleportation. Cure for obesity, cure for cancer, cure for pessimism, negativity, depression, abulia, cure for Aids, cure for heart disease, transhumanism technology

We might live in a Matrix, according to philosopher Nick Bostrom
I like the Matrix philosophy a lot about how the world is divided into a real-world and a fake-world, just like Plato, Descartes, Berkeley, Kant, and many philosophers claim about how most people live in the fake-world (which is the world of elections, traditional political parties, CNN news, FOX news, movies etc). And only a few live in the real world (anarchists, intellectuals, marxists etc)
.

a movie about the Russian civil war, there are not any that focus on the Bolsheviks.

Yeah, I’d love to see a film or miniseries version of “October”by China Meville. For sci-if/fantasy I would also love an Iron Council movie or miniseries... I think HBO actually own the TV rights to some of those books. I think I’d try for an Iron Council series if someone dropped millions of Hollywood bucks on me.
There is a lot of exciting historical moments (just in its own right as historical drama divorced from political view) that could be great as a movie. So many Civil War movies but no John Brown movies, not much, in the US anyway, about the Haitian Revolution. The Paris Commune seems like a no-brainer for film because it could be a more focused and narratively contained movie compared to anything about the Russian Revolution.
For non-explicitly political subjects, I would have loved to make the Twin Peaks revival. I really like lynch and Twin Peaks but would love even more to take his themes and subvert them: the sexism and “corruption coming from the evil without” aspects in particular... an “America was never great” version of Twin Peaks. I think Lynch does subvert or complicate these themes, but his political conservatism and idealism always seems to bleed through.

Or... I’d make a Ms Marvel movie for Disney, tell a good updated Spider-Man type story, rake in the dough, make an instant superstar out of a young Arab-American actor, troll the alt-right hard in the themes of the movie.
Or... I’d give all that money to John Waters and tell him to make 10 more films-anything he wants.

Hollywood bucks
Hollywood bucks, unfortunately, feature the visage of Ronald Reagan.
