Not for some time, I think....but then again, it always seems that way until the day before the revolution. I'm not holding my breath though. A properly socialist society could probably only emerge either in a wealthy, western nation, with a powerful military to ward off attacks, ideally the United States(obviously the linchpin of global capitalism), or someplace in Western Europe. Actually, what I'd really enjoy watching is some sort of worker's rebellion in China, which overthrows the ruling 'communist' party, and creates an actual worker run society. It would anger both the international capitalists, and those fools who actually think that the 'communist' state of China is even worth defending by the left. Then we on the left would actually have to take stock of ourselves, and some of us would inevitably be asked whether they really support worker rule of society, even if it opposes what laughably passes for 'communism' in so-called socialist states(looking at you Vietnam and North Korea). Worker's rule is more than just a red flag with a hammer and sickle...its radically opposed to every element of contemporary society, and not willing to retreat an inch in the face of smug, self righteous authoritarianism on the right or left.
