Stop Deportations Action-Oct 6th!

Chris,

We are taking action to stop deportations and we need you to join us!

Every Friday, dozens of undocumented immigrants from all over the metropolitan area who are currently in detention, are put on a bus, driven to the Gary, IN International Airport and put on a flight to Brownsville, TX and then removed to Mexico.

Thousands of people have been deported on flights leaving from Gary.

We are standing with labor and community activists from Chicago and Northwest Indiana to say "Not 1 More"!

On Friday October 6th (http://click.actionnetwork.org/mpss/c/1wA/ni0YAA/t.2ay/e4yo1fGQTdyBIC-oN7U0sQ/h0/HE2UYZIDTZxfLuJ8qHDFiKcv9QeqMGLDJ3IrF8dj2B0iktJvqd heT-2FfdufJU8DQZAo3VKposv84KNE6Gia-2BVQ9ZUeT2wP5Y-2FKIjWwdN-2BDvxa6iRxstzslwMgnEWDbUmP4jwWOP6Xbuoh4YBZe4-2BD-2Fd2Ct5KunFfIHH6BGe96blFZiJjwm49Kv-2FXQh8ss5rp7Novu6vTjG6qHspq2WWdpcHOgbf3p12U-2BLVMz1abRnmK1zugJEjXdfo9Fpg8U-2B1HdYL75dOY-2BpsLZDpTb4sEiS-2FxlmgHf8IK2QoDvRSy7S4U-3D), we will be at the airport as our friends and neighbors arrive.

Join us.

We will have a bus leaving from Jobs with Justice at 333 S. Ashland at 9 AM, (parking is available). We will return at approximately 2 PM.

Reserve seats on the bus here: http://www.chicagojwj.org/not1more

Thanks and In Solidarity,

Susan Hurley

URGENT! Action to Stop Deportations!

Chris,

We need you to join us THIS FRIDAY October 6th for an action to stop deportations!

Please click this link to reserve a seat on the bus going to Gary, IN for an action to stop deportations on Friday October 6th: http://www.chicagojwj.org/not1more

The bus will leave from Workers United (333 S. Ashland (https://maps.google.com/?q=333+S.+Ashland&entry=gmail&source=g)) at 9 AM to be in Gary at 10 AM. We will return at or before 2 PM. Workers United is accessible by public transportation and there is free parking in lots to the north and east of the building.

Why Gary? It is not widely known, but immigrants in detention from all over this region are deported by being flown to Texas on flights out of Gary, IN and sent across the border.

These flights happen every Friday. Roughly 100 people are deported this way every Friday. Over the last several years, 20,000 people have been removed from our country via a flight from the Gary International airport.

We are joining with activists and organizations on the ground in Gary, organizing under the umbrella of Northwest Indiana Resistance, who have already staged successful protests at the Gary airport. As Jobs with Justice, and as labor and community activists who love and support our immigrant friends, neighbors and co-workers, we want to grow the crowd and strengthen the chorus of voices saying this must stop, immediately. This is especially important as this administration is ending the DACA and TPS programs and aims to drastically increase deportations above what has already been an alarming and shameful rate.

It is not the fault of our immigrant friends, neighbors and co-workers, that our so-called immigration system is so badly broken. It is not their fault that our trade policies, and simultaneous drug use epidemic and futile drug war have destabilized communities across Latin America.

We must stand up and demand an end to this hardship and heartache being inflicted on families just struggling to survive and make a better life.

Please join us. Reserve seats on the bus here: http://www.chicagojwj.org/not1more

Many, many thanks to SEIU Local 1 for providing the resources for the bus to Gary, IN and their leadership on immigrant worker rights.

Thanks and In Solidarity,

Susan

So organizing your spam topically means it's no longer spam? God damn, son. You're a straight-up moron. How the hell were made admin, apart from the fact that you're one of four remaining people here?

Just because you disagree with me in a disparaging way doesn't mean that you're correct. Please stop spamming with your fatuous opinions on what 'spam' is.

You spam the forum. I and others have called you out on it. If you want me or others to stop "spamming with my fatuous opinions," stop the initial spam to which my replies are responding. That way, regardless of disagreements of who is doing the spamming, we can be sure that all spam would cease. Sound fair?

No, not fair, because you're simply assuming that your personal opinion happens to be the correct line for the situation, and it's *not*.

Because of your faction's past and ongoing demeaning and deprecation of my position and my person, I am no longer able to post any news to the News & Ongoing Struggles forum -- a forum for *news* -- or anywhere else on the board. This kind of crusade is not easily overlooked or forgotten.

You *continue* to want to define the working definition of 'spam', which is too far beyond too far to begin with.

It's been explained to you by multiple users that your behavior is disruptive, and also how. You have stated that these claims are fictional but have not explained how they are fictional. Your posts are spam because there are also bots known as 'spam bots' that copy and paste newsletters and such onto any post-able vectors, message boards, comments, email, etc.. and the poorly scripted ones usually leave address crumbs and broken text.

I'm under no obligation to make attempts to justify my 'behavior' -- your faction's defining of 'spam', my news posts, continues to be incorrect. That's the issue, an internal-political one.

This is not a valid argument because my selection of news articles to post (in the past) is not comparable to that of a bot or an algorithm -- I'm a revolutionary, so my selection was always in the mindset of what developments were most topical to hard-leftists.

The vast majority of the news you post, upper 90 percentile, carries with it no potential for discussion on a revolutionary discussion forum. It is the same type of news that is spammed on dead spaces on the internet, such as many imc sites that went the direction you're attempting to take this forum. Spam posts about magic crystals, tiny liberal gatherings, reforms, monolithic organizations falling over themselves to have a public face in the anti-war category of social capital and actual monetary gain, it's genuinely pathetic to see someone attempt that and then claim they are acting on revolutionary praxis.

Ckhaihatsu, your spamming of the forum is a fact, not a personal opinion. Independent of what I and others have said. Even if Bixx, EliIll, and others never came onto the forum, and it was just filled with your constant copy-pasting of inbox mass emails you receive, the FACT of the matter is that what you're doing would still be spam. Just spam that nobody is complaining or "opinionating" about.

Spam is the sending of mass, unsolicited messages to people online. You are literally transplanting the mass emails YOU signed up to receive directly onto the forum, which means that users here, who did not sign up to your mailing lists, get the experience of essentially being subjected to mass emails that they didn't solicit. In other words, spam.

This is a fact, just like it's a fact that the Earth is round and not flat. The disagreement here does not consist of two parties who just have different opinions. It involves a fact, one party pointing out the fact and expressing exasperation over it, and another party that keeps denying the fact is a fact by suggesting it's only a matter of opinion.

The vast majority of the remaining participants on revleft have pointed this out to you repeatedly, explained it patiently, and when you resorted to gaslighting them, ignoring their questions (like the one Elill has posted at least a dozen times), and pretending that they were conspiring to crusade against you for some unknown reason, people became angry and less than civil. They had every right to. The only surprising thing is that people have been as gentle and patient as they have. I get the impression that their patience is wearing very thin at this point.

I have my own theory about why you do what you do on the forum (the ritualized and compulsive posting of spam articles), but it's not unfair for people to come away with the conclusion that you're either as dumb as dogshit, or that you're a troll.

A serious question: why do you come to revleft? It's a discussion forum for leftist politics, but it appears you come here mainly just to transplant your inbox onto the forum, while making occasional comments here and there (which are usually pretty funny in their own right, since they betray how little you really know about leftist politics).

So I ask: why do you come to revleft?

I'm sorry that you summarily dismiss things that you don't know anything about, but on the strictly *political*, event-type posts I've contributed, the validity is that these are actual organizations organizing around actual *events* that oppose the capitalist-imperialist power structure.

In other words, these are valid political *developments* that are news- and attention-worthy -- your dismissiveness is unwarranted because from the revolutionary perspective these are *tactics*.

I'll note that, as usual, you're not addressing any of the *content*, or the subject matter itself, preferring instead to issue sweeping blanket opinions that you want to see implemented as official active board policy.

Ckhaihatsu,

Jesus -- at least get my username right -- (!)

your spamming of the forum is a fact, not a personal opinion.

No, you're incorrect because all your faction does is *say* that it's spamming -- granted, there's been no definitive judgment from the higher-ups, so I think, along with your faction, that that would be most appropriate at this point.

I continue to be astounded that you and others in your faction are so put-off by these kinds of posts -- at *worst* they're just posts of information that you don't care to see, so then just skip over them. Just because they're not of interest to *you* doesn't mean that they're invalid in their entirety, as to potential others.

I made sure that all of the content was / is *appropriate* to the forum posted-in, and also according to a factor of newsworthiness / event-worthiness. I think you may be looking at this issue too-technically, and are thus ignoring the *content* / subject matter as a result.

Well, board policy *has* changed, and I've been complying with it.

My concern at this point is that your faction could become dogmatic about your defining of 'spam', and make further pushes to limit what kind of posts I can and cannot make.

Well, for whatever it's worth, I'm not *trying* to antagonize anyone -- I just happen to see things differently, and I don't hesitate to say as much. I'll repeat that it would be good to get some more-detailed, definitive board policy nailed-down around this topic of alleged spam.

I have my own theory about why you do what you do on the forum (the ritualized and compulsive posting of spam articles), but it's not unfair for people to come away with the conclusion that you're either as dumb as dogshit, or that you're a troll.

This shouldn't *be* about the individual -- myself -- but instead should be a uniform *policy* that is hopefully arrived-at from a bottom-up process (congruent with the very politics that we espouse).

It's a fair question -- in the past, before the Internet, I was more on-the-ground, but *since* the mainstreaming of the Internet, and the availability of discussion boards like RevLeft, I've seen that more can be done *online*, such as dealing with revolutionary and geopolitical issues, and with internal, more-theoretical and also internal policy issues, like this one regarding the board's defining of 'spam'.

I still disagree with your characterizations, of course. (I'm not trying to 'transplant my inbox', but rather to select the most topical information that happens to arrive *in* my email inbox, in the form of emails, which -- for some reason -- you find to be so objectionable.)

Bea Arthur

Board policy hasn't changed. It was, is, and shall continue to be that spam isn't welcome. We all understand that you enjoy your spam, and think it's okay because it's "political" spam (mostly). It doesn't change the fact that it is spam, and that the forum rules prohibit the posting of spam. I would have to agree with eleill, too, and say that if you think what you're doing here is some kind of important political work, that's just sad.

You're disagreeing with the dictionary definition and a very clear step-by-step process by which that definition applies to your behavior here. That person whose posts you trashed as spam was doing exactly the same kind of shit you do day in and day out.

No, there has to be *policy* on what's 'spam', and what's not, for a specific implementation like the RevLeft discussion board.

If your faction had its way *completely*, anything that did not agree with your faction's interpretation of things would be blithely labeled 'spam' and its authors summarily banned. I'm speaking from experience here. No dictionary definition is going to side with you because a dictionary definition, by definition, is *abstract* and is not defined for *specific* situations like RevLeft board policy.

There's a dearth of decision-making here, when such is sorely needed to put an end to this endless factional bickering.

They appear to usually be organizations with a praxis, if that word can even be used seriously here, that's not compatible with communism/anarchy. That makes perfect sense given how the vast majority of your news spam threads sit forever without a single reply. We are already bombarded on a daily basis with everything else that exists in this world, why do you feel it necessary to inject the existent back into spaces like this?

This is the crux of it -- if some leftist-liberal-type organization sends me an email about some organizing that they're doing to stop the deportation of immigrants, for example, then I find that information and political effort to be *worthwhile* because the revolutionary position on immigration has *common ground* with those of other political stripes who are also pro-immigration.

To deny this is to be *sectarian*, as you obviously are.

I guess the crux of it is that there are hundreds if not thousands of things happening every week allegedly towards various goals and I don't think that the ones you post are relevant to communism/anarchy. I don't think that what you post is capable of fostering discussion on this board because hundreds if not thousands of them have already been posted and they haven't led to any discussion at all. Flaming

Flaming is universally not permitted on RevLeft. While we understand that many issues discussed here are controversial and emotionally charged, we also understand that emotional responses can get out of hand. This means that posts containing little but personal insults, name-calling and/or threats are not permitted.

Repeated flaming in posts containing nothing of substance except flames will result in warning points, and incorrigible offenders may be banned. In some cases threads which degenerate into "flame wars" will be locked with the participants prohibited from reviving them in any form.

Procedure for administrative action, i.e. The Warning System

These guidelines are aimed at dealing with users who breach the board guidelines in relation to flaming, trolling, spamming or social prejudice.
When a user breaches these guidelines the following procedure applies:
Procedure for administrative action, i.e. The Warning System These guidelines are aimed at dealing with users who breach the board guidelines in relation to flaming, trolling, spamming or social prejudice. When a user breaches these guidelines the following procedure applies: 1) Warning by mod or admin, offending posts/threads are removed. 2.) If after a warning the warned behavior continues the user may be given an infraction. Infractions should follow a warning to a user. Infractions for spam or flaming should be given for repeated, regular cases, not one-off posts. Moderators are removed as moderator after 3 infractions and subject to the same consequences as all other members after 5. Forum Moderators and Global Moderators may not infract Administrators. Administrators may only be infracted by other Administrators.

1) When any user receives 5 infractions/100% warning level for the first time, it will result in a one week temporary suspension of posting abilities. 2) Infractions for Flaming, Spam, and Trolling expire after six months. A user returning from suspension must not receive any more infractions until previous infractions expire. 3) Each time a user reaches 100% warn again (or receives infractions immediately following suspension), the length of the suspension is doubled and a poll is held to determine the status of their membership with these options: Do Nothing Ban
