View Full Version : Volunteer Programs to Cuba

I've been researching the net looking for a reputable volunteer service to Cuba. I would love to go at the end of 2004. But I'm not getting anywhere finding a program for Americans. I did find classes I could enroll in at the university in Havanna, but it is directed towards the British.
Have any of you researched this topic? Or even better, have any of you participated in one of these programs?
Thanks
Debora

If you are an American, and you intend on spending a lot of documentable time in Cuba, don't bother buying a ticket home.

Your best bet is to get in touch with Cuban Solidarity/friendship organizations to inquire about this.
You may also be able to go through Canada if it is impossible to do this from the U.S.
What City/State are you in? and I will see what I can look up for you....

I am in the south, Louisiana. I did realize unless I went thru a U$ government approved program I would have to leave thru Canada or S. America. Thanks for your interest Comrade Marcel. :0

Yeah I was thinking of staying there, then moving to Japan or something...after college I don't plan on staying in America for very long

Why the hell would you possibly want to move to Japan? They are just as materialistic, if not more so, then the Americans.

I did a quick search and was unable to locate anything in your area.
I would suggest you get in touch with one of the Free the Five committees close to you, and tell them what your looking in to doing, they should be able to help you.
