Self-proclaimed "communists" are really rich suburban kids??? I"M SHOCKED!!!
What's your point smart ass?
It says a lot about society...becoming revolutionary aware takes time and the only thing this proves is that the people who have time to become revolutionary aware are rich people. Working people are too busy trying to survive.
Are you saying that only working class people are allowed to be communists?
Are you saying that because the people in that thread were born into middle class families the whole theories of marxism, anarchism etc is refuted?
Peter Kropotkin a leading Anarchist was born a Prince...his parents attended the Russian Imperial Court.

Just thought you were on your way to Africa...? What happened with that?
Are you there, or have you not left yet?
Just curious.

Sadly, though understandably, the elucidated Left has always been a thing of elites. But that doesnt mean it has to be elitist.
You're wrong though, the majority of communists are not rich but poor, they simply don't post on Che-Lives or spend their time pondering philosophical matters because they don't have that luxury. For them it is not a matter of right and wrong, in the abstract sense, but of class interest.

My mom was a black panther...how the hell am I rebelling against her?
For the record though I didn't know she was a former panther until after I became a socialist.

Don't be so quick to second guess people's motivations. Just because someone is young doesn't mean he can't have a deep, heartfelt opinion about issues such as these.
Hell, I bet if I asked all the american right wing teenage kids of this forum if they love their country deeply they'd all say yes and I wouldn't doubt their earnest naivety.

To the comment of most communist being middle class to rich middle class ( I highly doubt completly rich kids want to give up there fortune and the inhertince) the reason for this i belive this becuase we have luxury and that as we get older we see the world from a different perscpective like why are there people with less then me when they work hard, why isnt it a prioty to feed and shelter the homless etc then since we have money and resources like internet we can learn on communism as most belwo us cant adn above us dont want to and we then want to change the world. Basically we have the oppurtunity. Some i belive are trying to be try hard rebels, some were at first and this draws them to communism and then they become mature communist. The fact is most middle class teenagers that are communist like myself believe that communism will work and capitalism should be brought to a end not because we want to rebel agaisnt the adult world but because we have not the worst of thing but not the best we have the middle and we see no need for economic/social class.

Let's not narrow out Y2A on this one. I could really go around and name quite a few, however things like this seem to get us in trouble. You should get my point though. How many on Che-Live's can you name off of the top of your head that are smart-ass teenagers that are not willing to except others opinions?
Don't look to far now.

Or rebel against pretty much everything, which basically means society. There is a word for what they want: Revolution.
Hey, they want revolution, we want revolution. We rally under the same flag for the same cause, what's the difference? It doesn't matter what back ground they come from, as long as they work (emphasize work) for this cause, where is the harm?

Thats cool man, it's good to see that some of the far-left aren't all just talk. Anyway, the point of it is that they are rich kids. And it pisses me off when I hear rich kids talk about tbe plight of the proletarian and then call me an "imperialist", it's BS and the sig is to piss off those bastards that live better then me yet call me the "imperialist".
Nuff Said.

Yeah sure, I want to rebel from my parents. I only post here so that my mom sees that I'm a rebel. I think about every kind of issues and make my own conclusion only to be a rebel. My ideals are only to rebel. I don't have any feelings, I just want to be a stupid rebel teen. Wow.
The fact that the system make the people's mind and the people's mind doesn't make the system explains why many people end up accepting it as natural.

Please avoid senseless spam replies like "I agree", "Very true", "You are stupid" etc. in all forums in the 'General' catergory. If you haven't anything to say, just shut up! This is a bulletin board, NOT a chat room! Continuous spamming (and that includes to post pictures of ebaumsworld and simular sites!) will result in a ban.

Why would they wear a shirt without paying attention to what it says on it? Especially if it's huge symbols of communism on it.

Because they want to rebel against their parents/society and/or like the image. Even some "commies" agree with me on this, you seem to be the only one that thinks that these rich suburban kids with mommy and daddy making 100K a year and driving a lexus are actually communists. It's pathetic really. I'm sure Marx would be turning in his grave if he knew his theory was being used to give your parents/society the middle finger.
