An arm's length commission would solve HSR's problems -- not privatization. As an HSR bus driver for almost 29 years, and the president of ATU 107 -- which represents HSR employees -- I'm all too familiar with HSR's shortcomings.

Regional suburban growth simply demands greater connectivity among suburban cities and easier access to downtown Toronto. The 50,000 airport workers also need better access to the airport via transit. The question remains how to pay for not only the hub at Pearson but the new lines feeding into it.
