Srsly, Betsy DeVos?
Chris,
The National Coalition for Men--a notorious so-called "men's rights" organization--believes that women are at fault for rape, sexual assault allegations are mostly false, and women and the media conspire to attack men.
And Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos has invited this group to help her reform Title IX campus rape policy.1
UltraViolet Education Fund is calling DeVos out for inviting rape-deniers to help craft policy around campus sexual assault. Will you chip in $5?
Yes, I'll chip in $5 to UltraViolet PAC to stand against Betsy DeVos. (https://act.weareultraviolet.org/go/6697?amount=5&t=2&akid=4862.852651.eR5Ajm)
NCM isn't the only rape apologist group DeVos has invited. She also contacted SAVE, which the Southern Poverty Law Center has identified as a misogynist group, and FACE--which has accused colleges of attacking "innocent students" due to "made-up allegations."2
These groups aren't just spewing propaganda. They're actively putting women in danger. NCM is notorious for publishing photos, names, and biographical information of women who have accused men of rape, opening them up to violent attacks. And SAVE has tried to overturn rules that prevent women's sexual histories from being introduced in rape trials.
This is who DeVos thinks should help create Title IX policy?!
DeVos's office has been a hotbed of misogyny and ignorance about the campus sexual assault epidemic in America. Just this week, Candice Jackson, DeVos's head of the civil rights office, said that 90% of rape accusations "fall into the category of 'we were both drunk,' 'we broke up, and six months later… she just decided that our last sleeping together was not quite right.'"3
DeVos is a threat to women on college campuses, and we cannot allow her to let universities return to the days when sexual assault was swept under the rug.
Will you chip in $5 to UltraViolet PAC to stand against this heinous attack on women and abortion rights? (https://act.weareultraviolet.org/go/6697?amount=5&t=3&akid=4862.852651.eR5Ajm)
Thank you for stepping up.
