i don't think 60's pop is accurate. maybe early 60's pop that became avant garde. saying 'i don't listen to overrated music that everyone else listens to' seems foolish to me. it seems that your elevating yourself above others by indicating that you dont follow everyone and dont participate in pop culture. but at the same it seems you wont listen to the music because you think its overated, which is basing your listening on what other people think instead of the quality of the music. you are contradicting yourself in an effort to be rebellious.
the beatles made some great music, i think most everyone can accept that. who cares if its overrated or not, i agree with you that it might be overrated but that doesn't stop me from listening to it. nor does the fact that millions of other people listen to it stop me from enjoying it in its own right. you shouldn't hate or like something because of what other people think, think for yourself. or maybe i'm wrong and you really dont like the beatles, though i can't see why you wouldn't.

At very least you must recognize that their music was incredibly harmonic and melodious.

That's what the "I don't listen to the same music as everyone else" post was in response. Some how if you're not a Beatles fan, you cannot understand music at all.

No it's based on my observation that they're shit and that everyone else thinks their brilliant when they're not. Overrated. They had a couple of good songs, other than that, they were terrible.

What's to like about them? Horrible, boring music which makes it hard to listen to even the best of their lyrics.

Anyway Stephen you should give them another try, they seriously are good especially the later and darker stuff ( the lsd buzz) and you should defo listen to Lennon.

Too varied a taste to answer that. I prefer music that really reflects my moods and what I'm thinking at the time (in most cases, there are exceptions) and the Beatles do not fill that. They're just boring in my opinion and there's nothing exceptional about their lyrics or music for me to listen to them. There are a lot of bands I listen to, where I don't particularly like the music but I like the lyrics or vice versa and I can listen to them but with the Beatles, neither are good enough to overcome the other.

i really dont listen to that type of poprock but you can still appreciate the music and the impact they made on music and cultur.
