As is well known, the exact date on which the revolutionary struggle began - which would culminate January 1st, 1959 - was the 26th of July, 1953. A group of men commanded by Fidel Castro attacked the Moncada barracks in Oriente Province on the morning of that day. The attack was a failure; the failure became a disaster; and the survivors ended up in prison, beginning the revolutionary struggle again after they were freed by an amnesty.
the above are not my words
But how is it that fidel got amnesty and by whom

I think, from memory, that Batista was under pressure from the U$ to hold democratic elections, and fidel was seen as opposition so he was released.
Something like that.
Fidel Castro

Batista declared an amnesty and released political prisoners due to growing civil unrest.
After a spell in Mexico, Fidel, Che and the "26th of July" movement, numbering just over 80 left for Cuba on the Granma and planned to make a landing to coincide with a popular uprising.
They landed late, in the wrong place and all but 12 of them were captured or killed. The surviving fighters fled to the mountains, where they rapidly gained support, through pirate radio messages, newsletters and releasing film footage.

:o Thats a bit personal!!
Well lets see, first its a burning yankee flag, its recognised as a worldwide symbol for anti-american feeling.
That is a feeling i hold, and a permanent image of a buring U$ flag, is often seen as very controversial in western society, like the one im in.
But here, on che-lives, im able to express my hate for america constantly, even though there are americans in this litte 'internet community' without it being seen as particularly or even remotley controversial.
Hope that helps
And out of curiosity, why did you ask?

The reason I ask
The flag is folded and its being burned that is the way the country respectfully disposes of flags that was not your intent
