Mexico: Student Strike Becomes an Occupation, for 17 Years

Hunger-striking Yale graduate students have a thing or two to learn from students at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where a 9 month-long student strike in 1999 led to occupation of the school's Che Guevara auditorium by radical protesters. Seventeen years later, the occupiers remain enigmatic and in control.
