Dear Chris,
(español abajo)
Antonio is free on bond and back home with his family! Thanks to everyone who signed and shared the petition (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=27m2ROIQ81Vfy%2BVdYXa2wpkxUfJEAml5). Check out this great news article about Antonio's case and Adelante's work: "'A whole nightmare': Alabama father of 7 out on bond after detention by ICE." (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=iv5guzGEYOEEUD2DAzEzZpkxUfJEAml5)
Now we need your help to free another member of our community: Juan Carlos Hernandez, a survivor of ICE's terrorizing raids in North Alabama. Will you contribute $5 or $50 to Juan Carlos's bond fund today? (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=M34Rn3K%2FPnsgqoUxWsxitpkxUfJEAml5)
More about Juan Carlos's case:
On March 18, heavily armed ICE agents raided Juan Carlos’s home in Hartselle, Alabama. Even though the ICE agents were looking for someone else who did not live there, they took Juan Carlos into custody. He is now detained in Louisiana. On May 3, an immigration judge granted Juan Carlos a $17,000 bond. His family has been able to scrape together $10,000, and now we need your help to raise the remaining $7,000 (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=kYzCQZTR7oEpv4bRuATF%2FpkxUfJEAml5) (our partner Alabama Coalition for Immigrant Justice (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=20oLEu1BIy%2FYVcASqyNVVJkxUfJEAml5) is hosting the online fundraiser).
Juan Carlos Hernandez Contreras is a kind, hard-working member of the community of Hartselle. He provides not only for his immediate family, but also for his siblings, cousins and grandparents. He is a church member and an avid soccer player. He has no criminal history except for several traffic tickets. His 90-year-old grandparents are having a difficult time without his help.
The raid on Juan Carlos’s home was part of a large-scale ICE enforcement operation that led to the arrest and detention of dozens of community members known as the Alabama 40 (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=dVg0e8zR970aAYNK6OR%2FxpkxUfJEAml5). During these larger raids, ICE has been known to use illegal and unconstitutional tactics to get access to homes or make arrests in the street or at traffic stops. These tactics instill fear and hurt immigrant communities at large; Juan Carlos’s relatives now fear answering the door.
Help us denounce ICE’s unconstitutional and intimidating tactics, and free Juan Carlos (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=gfDbLyDAl4En6B1LT1Lxu5kxUfJEAml5)!

From the AL.com article (http://org2.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=G8geWOThAKaRZx%2FAzkc6JpkxUfJEAml5) on Antonio's case:
"Getting bond is absolutely the difference between getting deported and getting relief," [Adelante Director Jessica] Vosburgh said.
"Once you get out of detention, your case moves so much slower and that gives you time to prepare your case, find a lawyer, save up money to pay a lawyer, find witnesses. Everything you need to do to win your case is almost impossible from inside detention."

Estimado/a Chris,
