Chris,

We received this correspondence from Nick Mottern, a member of the World Can't Wait Advisory Board and co-ordinator of kNOwdrones.com: (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=Wh12B7HP7h%2BH9xzKSEKqw%2BN%2BC0C%2FvcwM)

What Can We Do to Stop the Extensive Air War Slaughter by the U.S. Led Coalition? (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=xJFCfPDgeZpQnZOWQzUmoON%2BC0C%2FvcwM)

I would like to open a discussion of what we and others might do collectively to try to stop the extensive air war slaughter by the U.S. led coalition. See U.N. says 300 civilians killed in U.S.-led air strikes in Raqqa since March. (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=NuIJio35IqPy5LH%2FevOpzeN%2BC0C%2FvcwM)

There is no justification for what is happening...a rolling war crime across the Middle East and Afghanistan. Now we find that white phosphorus is likely being dropped. This was reportedly done to Fallujah when Mattis attacked there in 2004. Read

Supposedly U.S. drone surveillance would help prevent the killing of non-combatants.
From Reuters June 14, 2017: "Separately, Human Rights Watch expressed concern in a statement about the use of incendiary white phosphorous weapons by the U.S.-led coalition fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, saying it endangered civilians when used in populated areas. White phosphorus is not banned as a chemical weapon and can legally be used on battlefields to make smoke screens, generate illumination, mark targets or burn bunkers and buildings. But it can cause serious burns and start fires."

A day before International Day in Solidarity with Victims of Torture:
Join Us in Miami to Protest Against Trump and His Torture Prison (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=UKnv3%2Bsn6PKWIe%2B4kj%2FheeN%2BC0C%2FvcwM)

Donald Trump has said he wants to revive and expand US use of torture. On Guantanamo, he said he wants to keep the prison open and "load it up with some bad dudes". Now, more than ever, is the time for us to stand against these crimes against humanity. President Obama broke his promise - 41 men remain imprisoned at Guantanamo. A powerful movement against torture and illegal detention is their best chance for justice.

Fifteen years ago, the United States brought the first detainees to Guantanamo Bay. The detention center has since then become a place of torture and shame. Released detainees claimed that waterboarding, sexual humiliation, and forced drugging were used on prisoners. Six detainees have committed suicide.

Since January 11 2001, 775 men have been sent to Guantanamo Bay without trial and have been jailed without ever having been charged with any crime. As of March 2017, 41 prisoners remain locked up. A horrific torture prison created under George Bush remains up and running under President Trump, despite Barack Obama's infinite promises to the American people that he would shut it down.

Wikileaks produced documents from the US government stating that at least 150 Afghanis and Pakistanis detained in Guantanamo were never a risk at all, were brought in by mistake or for no clear reason, and then were held without due process for years. These innocent people include a camera man from Al Jazeera and a 70 year old with dementia with "no reason on record" for being held. They have been separated from their families and subjected to cruel treatment for absolutely no reason.

WE SAY NO MORE!

Join us in Miami on this terrible anniversary as we march to the headquarters of Southern Command, the center that operates Guantanamo Bay military base and detention center, and demand that fifteen years of torture and shame come to an end!

Guantanamo-style prisons are here, too, on U.S. soil. Helen Schietinger describes the development of Communications Management Units in a must-read article. "CMUs differ from Guantanamo in a very significant way, however. All the prisoners in CMUs have been convicted of crimes (many on the basis of FBI-paid informants — more about that later), while almost all prisoners in Guantanamo have never been tried or convicted. The few convictions have been in “military tribunals” in which defendants are denied proper due process." Read more here.
