Hi Chris --

I want to share some exciting news with you because you recently signed our petition against Toba Pulp Lestari’s land right violations in Indonesia. The same day we sent you the petition more than 1,300 people rallied in North Sumatra against Toba Pulp Lestari (TPL) and for Indigenous land rights!

Thank you for joining the action online. Now is the time to ramp things up — please share this news on Facebook and ask your friends to take action in solidarity with Indigenous Batak communities. More than 1300 Indigenous Batak protest

This was the largest protest in more than 20 years of conflict between TPL and Indigenous Batak communities. The demands are simple: recognition of customary land rights, an end to criminalization of peaceful protest, and respect for Indigenous Batak communities.

As you know, despite a recent policy promising to respect human rights and resolve past conflicts, Toba Pulp Lestari has still failed to meet community demands for land rights and pollution.

Share this petition on Facebook to boost our collective impact in solidarity with Indigenous Batak communities. This action demonstrates the presence and power of the Indigenous Batak communities, who have called the region home for more than 13 generations. Thank you again for being a part of it.

In solidarity,
