Just thought I'd mention this guy - Lester Rodney.
An amazing leftist and journalist. The reason you have a sports section in your daily paper is due to this guy, but more famously he managed to break the colour-barrier in baseball. Blacks were allowed to participate with whites almost completely due to this guys efforts. Well worth a watch.
