I was reading "Che: A Revolutionary Life" by Anderson in chemistry the other day, and some douche bag asks me "Why do you read those weird books?" Undoubtedly, he noticed me reading Les Miserables (Hugo), Live From Death Row (Abu-Jamal), and Civil Disobedience (Thoreau) within the past couple of weeks. I couldn't help but laugh and tell him the first thing that came to my head, which was "It's social science.....".

Anybody else encounter people like this? People that would rather read about star-trek than read literature aimed to make an impact on society?

Yes, they are the weird.. And we are right, often times when I was a student I would go and read and this alone was considered weird, I say the couch potatato's and tv addicts and sport fanatics are the really weird.. Still now my housemates are befuddled when I want to watch a documentry or even the friggin news.. They are soap freaks and watchers of mindless drivel..

Death to the weird!
