EMERGENCY CALL TO ACTION: FREE Transwomen in Santa Ana!

Community power won the termination of the contact between Santa Ana City and ICE!
In the past few months many grassroots, advocacy and legal organization have been advocating for the release of 30 transwomen detained inside the Santa Ana Trans Pod and most of them have been released.
10 transwomen, mainly asylum seekers, are still detained facing medical neglect, verbal, physical and sexual violence!
YESTERDAY, MAY 2ND ICE ANNOUNCED THEY WILL TRANSFER THEM TO NEW MEXICO FRIDAY, MAY 4TH INSTEAD OF RELEASING THEM TO THEIR SUPPORT COMMUNITY!
YOU HELP US ENSURE THEY ARE RELEASED BY FRIDAY JOINING THE FOLLOWING ACTIONS:
*For pack the courts e-mail us at [email protected] with your number. We met half an hour before hand to give an overview to participants or if you would like to join anytime during the court hearing we can meet you outside to guide you to the right court room. Please note this is federal building, you have to go through security and they don’t allow reusable water bottles or food.

Jessica is a transwoman from Honduras in her early 20s who came to the United States fleeing gender violence. During her journey to the US her body was intoxicated with mental. Jessica's health deteriorated so much in Santa she had be rushed to an OC hospital and was in a comma for weeks!! She has her main asylum hearing today!

Cruz is a community member from Santa Ana who has lived here since a young teenager. She has been detained for the past 6 months at Santa Ana City Jail, where she has been fighting her asylum. She was criminalized due to war on drugs and falsely charged with “intent to sell” after serving her punishment, she has been persecuted by Immigration Officials. On April 20th her bond was denied so it is really crucial that we show community presence for her merits hearing on May 2nd.

Mary is currently detained in Santa Ana and is in urgent need of any financial support to for her continuing survival in the US. Mary has been in the US since 2003 who has lived in San Jose for many years. She has until Friday to post bond in order to remain in California and be released from detention.
