But if they obey you [once more], seek no means against them. Indeed, Allah is ever Exalted and Grand.
-Sura 4 Verse 11:

And for you is half of what your wives leave if they have no child. But if they have a child, for you is one fourth of what they leave, after any bequest they [may have] made or debt. And for the wives is one fourth if you leave no child. But if you leave a child, then for them is an eighth of what you leave, after any bequest you [may have] made or debt. And if a man or woman leaves neither ascendants nor descendants but has a brother or a sister, then for each one of them is a sixth. But if they are more than two, they share a third, after any bequest which was made or debt, as long as there is no detriment [caused]. [This is] an ordinance from Allah , and Allah is Knowing and Forbearing.
To summarize it: The daughter receives half the inheritance of her brother.
Sura 33 Verse 59:

O Prophet, tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to bring down over themselves [part] of their outer garments. That is more suitable that they will be known and not be abused. And ever is Allah Forgiving and Merciful.
-Sahih Bukhari 6:301:

"I have not seen any one more deficient in intelligence and religion than you. A cautious, sensible man could be led astray by some of you."

I get it dude, you're a secular Arab whose ashamed of his people's "backwards" ways. My immigrant father is the same (except he's Catholic). What you need to understand is that ALL religions are inherently reactionary, not just Islam. Even the most "progressive" religions, such as Buddhism and the New Age movements, approach the world from an idealist perspective that doesn't help change the status quo. The aim of the revolution left is to transcend religion and advance the real and material interests of the working class and the global poor, not categorize the various faiths in order of "degeneracy."

Furthermore, you have to remember that when Marx said religion was the "opiate of the masses", he was implying some more than drug-like addiction.

They dont though there is a difference between atheism and hate speech, simply bashing one religion doesn't make you an atheist, you wouldn't call the holocaust a triumph of atheism would you? The same thing is happening with islam, millions of muslims are dying, 200 innocent civilians were just bombed yesterday in mosul there will probably be another major bombing of innocent civilians today. There is no reason to bash the jews during 1940's germany so there is no reason to bash muslims today. Since there is plenty of people doing that already. I would be more interested in hearing about crimes against women in buddhism or hinduism if there is any religion leftists apologize for its them.

A big problem here is the anonymity of the internet, you for example could be some 40 year old white christian guy named cletus posting from Alabama who just pretends to be muslim to get away with hate speech. Your post could easily have been written by Cletus. Your post is also extremely relevant to Christianity, it is basically same religion after all. So if you had re-written this to be about Christianity it would be applauded while because it is about islam it seems like hate speech. But this has more to do with the fact that you are writing perfect english, on an english speaking website, if i saw this posted on facebook i would not think this is a Lebanese muslim who is recently converting to atheism I would think this is cletus bashing muslims again, or hitler bashing the jews.

And as an english speaking lebanese former muslim atheist you should know you are quite the rarity. So while I encourage you to write this stuff, I would encourage you to write this in Arabic, the chances of a muslim reading this in english (and on a leftist website no less) is slim to none, you can however ask us as any questions you like in english but I assure you most of us already know this stuff like the back of our hand, why? because racists constantly scream about it from the top of the mountains. There is a huge difference between discriminating against Muslims and criticizing the idea of Islam. What you have to understand is that many Western leftists "apologize" for Islam in reaction to right-wing critiques, many of which are hypocritical and disingenuous. Remember, these leftists grew up in the milieu of the culture wars and the 9/11 attacks, where everybody was questioning everybody and a whole lot of people were prepared to profile Arabs and turn the Middle East into a "giant parking lot" (an actual quote from an actual Republican nominee for president). A lot of the critiques made towards Islam were coming from right-wing neocons and evangelical conservatives whose opinions on domestic issues of feminism and homosexuality contrasted with their "critiques" of Islam's social conservatism. After all, it wasn't too long ago that conservatives were content to treat gays as second-class citizens and disapprove of female participation in the workforce; for them to suddenly turn face and launch "progressive" attacks on Islam seems somewhat suspicious. Essentially, many leftists are afraid that critiques of Islam will lead to outright discrimination and hostility; I personally disagree with this conclusion (as well as the tactics that emerge from it), but I understand its origins.

Atheists cannot learn about every single world religion. If you are an atheist you should be focused on your own former religion. So obviously a former christian growing up in predominantly Christian country, is going to be more focused on Christianity than Islam (or Buddhism or Taoism) hell if it wasn't for the "war on terror" most americans and europeans would have no knowledge about islam whatsoever, most of them still cant tell you the difference between Sunni and Shias.
