As a way to commemorate the International Women's Day let me present this quiz to you:

I wonder how many points will you get. I got 34 out of 50. Which means I'm pretty feminist.

The very first point "I would be willing to give up some of my salary to get equal pay in the workplace". What kind of liberal bullshit is that. No, I wouldn't be willing to take a hit to my wages but I would certainly fight with every fibre of my being to ensure that women got paid the same wage as me by, ya know, raising their wages to an equal level.

Yeah, aside from the ones about wage equity, they're all basically about *civil society* dynamics -- which is fine, of course, but this approach isn't interested in gender co-*liberation* on a material basis. The thing that would be *most* empowering would be common co-administration of social production across all conceivable 'genders' (gender-identities). Equality between men and women simply *isn't possible* while capitalism still exists because its scarcity-oriented economics thrives wherever it can *cheapen* a segment of the working population (women, a social minority, among others) by socially *marginalizing* that segment.

If someone agrees with this one 'In an instance of sexual assault against a female, I am inclined to believe the assaulted person is telling the truth until proven otherwise." could you please tell me why?

The idea is that since women are an oppressed minority they should be given the benefit of the doubt regarding any claims to sexual harassment, rape, etc.
This of course is *contrary* to the legal norm of 'innocent until proven guilty' for the alleged offender. In practice I think rape kits can provide needed evidence, but they're not always taken since not all rapes are immediately reported to the authorities due to concerns about being victimized twice-over. Also rape kits, if done, are not always retained or handled properly by the authorities over time.

This depends entirely on how you would define feminism. Actual feminism? Absolutely.
I really don't see how anyone can be a communist without also being a feminist - it just comes with the territory. I guess technically you could be a non-feminist communist, but you'd make for one lousy ass communist.
With that said, there are unfortunately some elements within the feminist movement that are quite reactionary (such as trans-phobia, misandry, racism, etc) - but these constitute a very small minority and are in no way indicative of feminism as a social movement, the goal of which is female liberation and the destruction oppressive social institutions.
So yes, I am a feminist. "How much"? 100% feminist.
But only 32/50 on that stupid test.
If someone agrees with this one 'In an instance of sexual assault against a female, I am inclined to believe the assaulted person is telling the truth until proven otherwise." could you please tell me why?
I can understand why you might be reluctant to do that - like, what if a women is just vindictive and lies? Not to mention there was a time in our history where a black man would be lynched on the word of a white woman. Here's the thing, though: the question has nothing to do with a court or trial or anything like that. A person is innocent until proven guilt as it should be. It's simply asking if your natural inclination is to believe the woman. And I think it would have to be. If I'm being totally honest, it's my natural inclination to take the word of any alleged victim, male or female.

A Buzzfeed quiz? On RevLeft? Good god what has happened to this forum. Your political identity is a cross-section of your values, your social background, and the societal norms that you have adopted, not some quantitative measure determined by a 5 minute quiz on a website populated with pseudo-progressive liberals and upper-middle class professionals.
Btw I got a 20 out of 50, but that's partially because most of the questions are pretty superficial. Like the one about misogynistic language in music: how in the hell does censoring the b---- word advance the cause of women? That's some evangelical Moral Majority-bullshit. Or the one about Marlene Dietrich; how is fashion theory a delineating characteristic of the feminist movement?
