1. how is it advertising?
2. if you thought about it you'd probably come to the conclusion (well most people would) that his spirit lives on, and that that is expressed with the name of this site.

at least thats what i always thought.

Um.. I don't know what McLaren is trying to imply when he/she (which one?) said "Isin't che-lives false adverising." First, I have no idea what isin't or adverising is. If you mean that the name "Che-Lives" is false advertising, then, you really are an idiot. There is no advertising by the name, and it only implies that the ideas, strength, and spirit of Che still live on. With the name McLaren (The Scottish form of my own surname), you make me ashamed and I really hope that you're just using that name. I'd surely hate to know that both of our ancestors come from the same clan.

I would like to assure you that his name is not mclaren.

His real name is mentioned once in the game "Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine" on chapter (level) 12.

Sasafrás
9th January 2002, 21:34
What name is that? I don't know anything about Indiana Jones.. :)

Moskitto
9th January 2002, 21:46
The game rocks, although it gets a bit boring by level 16 but until then it's non-stop tension, no tension, tension, no tension.

It's a sort of Germanish name as well.

And King Solomans Mines might help you. If that part of the story is real from the game, then it was the guy who discovered it.

Che is dead physically yet his legend continues to thrive all over the world and continues to influence all of the world. For example, the solidarity Zapatista movement in Southern Mexico (EZLN) literally has ideas that revolve around Che. So if THERE WAS advertising it wouldn't be false since Che is still very much alive. I really can't understand how you would think that this website its advertising but that's beyond my reasoning. Now go back to your corner and try and think the next time you post!

Another waste of space on the forum

I think Mclaren has stepped the mark. Not the mark of stupidity but the mark where I am sure people will begin to realize he is here to cause arguments!! I won't throw mindless insults as that is pointless. I would just like to point out to all members and moderators that is this is merely an act to boil us to the point...... Just ignore him, if we do ban him he has won, we have defied our principles.....FREEDOM!!!!!!!!!!

I have a Che shrine and I do celebrate Day Of The Dead with his image so in many ways he is dead but he is also immortal in many more. I don't think a day goes by without Che in my head. He is by far influencing my every thought. Will Che ever stop influencing the world? Nope. Will Mclaren ever influence this board? Nope.

Dread, you are athiest, right? Día de los Muertos is somewhat of a religious thing, you know? So, you only celebrate it simply as a sign of respect and, quizas, *adoration* for Ernesto, right? Just asking.. :)

McLaren Mclaren..........you play a rough game for a guy who can't spell..........these guys just talk the shit out of you......yet your still posting these dumb messages of yours.......and you know what if you were truly against che or communism then you wouldnt be here.........your here cause you like it arent you.........cause now finally someone speaks at you..

Dreadnaht1
13th January 2002, 19:52
La Rainbeaux, yes I do do it purely out of respect. Even if I was religious I'm not from the Latin Americas and therefore I doubt Day Of The Dead would be in my religious practices. But I feel it's better to celebrate Day Of The Dead then Halloween since I find Halloween to be pointless and crappy. Allthought the B-Movies kickass.

Well Dreadnaht (by the way, I find you to be extremely intriguing), that's lovely... I'm not a part of any sort of religion that would include Day of the Dead as a holy or significant day either but I do think Day of the Dead's a wicked awesome day... Nice way to show respect to the people who've already departed.. Halloween is not so great to me either. In fact, I never really have been *allowed* to do anything for Halloween.. Last time I can remember doing anything for it was in the 80s but it was only for fun anyway..

Nickademus
14th January 2002, 01:24
just fyi la rainbeaux, in my religion halloween (aka samhain) is akin to the day of the dead. and you are right in that it is a wonderful day to show respect etc to the dead. and it is an excellent way to show just how che does live.

Sasafrás
14th January 2002, 01:38
Hey Nickademus (just trying to make sure I catch your attention), what exactly is your religion, if you don't mind saying? I'm becoming really fascinated by religions, especially those aside from Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.. (My *religion* is a mixture of different elements from both Judaism & Christianity but I personally embrace many other ideas as well).. Yeah, I know that the Day of the Dead and Halloween almost can go hand in hand because of their similarities and original purposes.. I actually have no problem with Halloween, but I do have a problem with the way it's been made into something other than what it was originally meant to be and have basically made it commercial like everything else... :(

RedCeltic
14th January 2002, 01:44
Same as mine Wicca . " the old religion" of Western Europe. And personally I wouldn't say Holloween and Samhain are the same thing... Holloween is a meaningless capitalist holiday that evolved out of Samhain... and in a way is just a mockery of it.

Samhain.. .is the death of the God. (We have a God and a Goddess) The transision from the time of harvest to the time of hunting... the aproaching cold months.

Also... should say... it's believed to be the day when the veil between the living world and spirit world is the thinest. And... the Day of the Dead... is akin to this as it decends from the same common belief system.

That's what I thought (Wicca).. I know a Wiccan girl. She's a photographer on the newspaper staff with me.. And, Halloween did originate from Samhain, just like many other *Christian* holidays were created by the Catholics to take place of "pagan" celebrations.. It makes me angry! People (Christians especially) think I'm strange because I don't celebrate (or even believe in) Easter & Christmas or Halloween, but they don't really know where these originated from...
But, don't get the wrong impression. I don't hate Catholics or any other Christians nor do I frown upon pagan (Is "Pagan" a bad word? It seems like it would be offensive, but I don't know  ) people. In fact, I somewhat prefer the company of people who aren't Christian or Jewish.. They don't frustrate me as much as the obsessive & compulsive Christians that plague me daily in Southern United States. But that's just here, anyway.... :)

Nickademus
14th January 2002, 02:24
yeah what redecltic said.

no pagan is not a bad word (in my mind anyway) but it is an umbrella term. if specifically referring to my religion i prefer wicca. and i do personally celebrate christmas, easter etc. but simply for my parents sake. until this christmas my mother refused to accept that i was not anglican and my father just didn't know. so for their sake (ie feeling awkward about giving me no x-mas presents but giving some to my brother and sister) i still celebrate it.

I have no hate for Christians nor any other religion, or beliefs... including those that are agnostic or athiest.

The Roman Catholic church saw itself in a situation where they wanted to spread their beliefs onto people who where already strong believers in a faith.

What to do? You can buld a church but if the people simply say, "No thanks I have a relgion... I think I'll stick with that..."

so they smashed up the temples and groves, bult churches on the holy sites... incorperated the old Gods as saints... stole the traditions and holidays... required people to go to church... walled up the north door (a common practice among pagans is to enter a holy site from the north side)

And when that didn't work... Inquisition... witch trials... and burning at the stake.

But mind you... this is all in the past... and I don't hold any hate for Christians because of what their founders did.

I do however get along better with athiests and agnostics... as no one is trying to convert anyone or damn them to some mythical firey pit.

I Will Deny You
14th January 2002, 05:50
Lots of Christian Evangelicals try extra hard to convert me once they see my dark skin and realize I'm a Jew. They think I'm a Black Hebrew. I resent that, but it helps when I need to scare them away.

Dreadnaht1
14th January 2002, 23:36
Christians have stolen way too many ideas and called them their own and that's what makes their religion somewhat unbelievable. Unfortunately in the north-eastern states Christianity will get rammed down your throat. Gotta hate that crap. If their religion is so good and full of great people then why do they have to go out and try and convert other people? Can they really not stand competition from other faiths that much? And then when you say your a Communist or something positive they give you this look like you've got genitals growing out of your forehead.

Here's a good one you'll enjoy, it's the conversation me and a telemarketter had on the phone a few days ago:

Phone: Ring, ring

Me: Hello

Telemarketter: Hello, sir. Is Jesus in your life?

Me: Um, what?

Telemarketter: Is Jesus in your life?

Me: No, I'm a communist :) (Smirking alot here)

Telemarketter: I'm sorry sir.

Me: I'm not :)

Telemarketter: .....

Me: Hello?

Telemarketter: Click.

Me: Hahahahaha....
