Hi Chris,

Could you choose between being safe and alone, or in danger with your family?

It’s an impossible decision, right? Now imagine you’re a child. You’ve had to flee your country to escape the bombs that destroyed your town and killed people you love. You’re safe now, but alone – and you don’t know when or if you’ll ever see your family again.

This is a very real situation faced by child refugees in the UK.

Don’t make them choose – tell the UK to reunite refugee families
Sign the petition (http://webmail.amnesty.org.uk/_act/link.php?mId=J9189917074817503880428806463218&tId=224113832&subjId=97607)

Children are the only refugees in our immigration system denied the right to bring their immediate families to the UK – with no hope of being reunited safely.

This makes no sense. How can a child who has already experienced such trauma be expected to recover and successfully integrate without their immediate family around them? And without knowing whether their family are alive or dead or fallen foul of human traffickers.

Tell the UK government to help keep refugee families together – sign our petition (http://webmail.amnesty.org.uk/_act/link.php?mId=J9189917074817503880428806463218&tId=224113847&subjId=97607)

The Department of Education and the Home Office are currently working on a strategy to safeguard unaccompanied children. Tell our government: ending the forced separation of child refugees from parents and siblings is vital to their wellbeing.

The government must grant children the same right to family reunion, as adult refugees have in this country and child refugees have in every other European Union country - bar one.
