Chicago - December 8, 2016. In the bitter cold a couple dozen mental health activists and community supporters marched and chanted in front of the south side’s Roseland mental health clinic, its doors chained and padlocked. Closed through the policies, among others, of Mayor Emanuel and 9th Ward Alderman Anthony Beale. Long-standing mental health clinic activist N’Dana Carter leads the protest and explains to the media the devastating effects this will have on a community already stressed beyond the breaking point by economic depression and violence. Community Counseling Centers of Chicago (C-4), which is scheduled to replace the clinic, is a private company, beyond public oversight. Last year, due to financial problems, C-4 closed its Chicago clinics, throwing out 10,000 patients. This all happened without any public hearings. Also interview with therapist Dr. Obori Cartman with valuable clinical insights on this crisis. Length: 9:30
