AOL is currently conducting a poll open to its members about third party candidates. These results aren't final but they are very interesting so far. Surprisingly 47% of those who took the poll say that they aren't satisfied with republicans or democrats. That number seems a bit high to me, but thats probably becasue of the majority who feel that way don't bother to vote so it doesn't show that much in election results, other than the fact that roughly half of all eligible voters don't vote at all. Third party candidates don't seem to be gaining noticable ground despite that fact that people are tired of both the republicans and democrats, but it isn't surprising due to the total lack of any media publicity for third parties.
Do we need third party presidential candidates?
No -- I can always find a candidate to support from the major parties 53%
Yes -- I'm not satisfied with only Democrats and Republicans 47%
Do you think a third-party candidate could ever win?
No 64%
Yes 36%
