Chicago WCW Meeting Monday, Nov 14, 7 pm

The Chicago chapter of World Can't Wait meets at 7 pm on Monday, Nov. 14, at St. Gertrude's, 6214 N. Glenwood, Chicago. Enter through the "Ministry Center" and ring the bell if the door is locked. That's a few blocks west of the Granville stop on the Red line, with easy off-street parking as well.

When you donate to World Can't Wait you help grow this vehicle for voices of conscience in the U.S. to stand with the people of the world and stop the crimes of "our" government, regardless of which party is in power.

Humanity and the Planet Come First!

Chris,

The election of Donald Trump, an outright fascist, has already emboldened his base to attack those they perceive as "the other." USA Today reports (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=E%2FDOV37mhCUi%2FxVq5WgcBuoa3u%2FlsYP6) that the spike in hate crimes is not your imagination. It's actually worse than after 9/11. People of conscience cannot try to "wait things out;" reconciliation and collaboration would be deadly, literally. We must come together, resist, and let the world know that we will not let this stand. Join us in spreading this statement widely:

Activists Confront Harold Koh - Report Back from Champaign Action

At an event at the University of Illinois, Champaign, Law School titled "The First 200 Days, Foreign Policy Law Challenges for the Next Administration," Harold Koh spoke on Friday, Oct. 28, about his life as a top legal advisor to Clinton under Obama's Dept. of State.

Having previously argued, "U.S. targeted practices, including lethal operations conducted with the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, comply with all applicable law, including the laws of war,” Koh was challenged by students questioning the legality and morality of the ongoing covert drone wars inside the event. Outside the Law School, protesters from World Can't Wait joined local activists from AWARE (Anti-War, Anti-Racism Effort), STEM Boycotts The War Machine, Neighbors for Peace, Central Illinois Prairie Greens, World Labor Hour and others. The local FOX affiliate broadcast interviews (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=2HtHwJ2Rq6qMZf1W%2BkYnLIMR8s4efDG%2B) with law professor Francis Boyle and activist Karen Aram, who stated, "He is an advocate of drone warfare, he's responsible for many deaths, not of soldiers, but of children, he's killing civilians and this is what the American people have to recognize."

Watch Professor Boyle (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=lf3tE7IUhXC4%2BV8rcY75KIMR8s4efDG%2B) explain Harold Koh's life of "service" to the American empire, from advocating for deadly political repression in Latin America under Reagan to providing legal cover for killer drones under Obama.

Watch Harry Mickalide (http://org.salsalabs.com/dia/track.jsp?v=2&c=HmzDERqEHmIMiyjJAl9Tm4MR8s4efDG%2B), a student from STEM Boycotts The War Machine, describe what happened when he challenged Harold Koh to defend his support for killer drones.

Everyone protesting Koh's appearance felt the event marked the start of the anti-war movement under the next president - and needs to spread and grow quickly!
