12 years ago, a man was apprehended by Chicago police for an alleged nonviolent crime. After confronting the young man, they then drove him to an alley and stripped-searched him, leaving him pantless. They proceeded to use a screwdriver to sodomize the young man. As a result, he suffered internal injuries.

You would think that a vile act like this would leave the officers without jobs. But 12 years later, both officers involved are still members of the force.

The department refused to take action upon the initial complaints. It took 3 years for an extensive investigation and civil jury, which found the officers blatantly guilty. The victim received a settlement, but the officers were still not fired.

This feels almost too shocking to believe. The police are tasked with keeping our communities safe, yet these officers got away with an illegal and degrading act without consequence. In fact, the officers currently make around $90,000 each per year!

Not surprised, ever heard about blue wall of silence, also blue code and blue shield, the terms used in the United States to denote the unwritten rule that exists among police officers not to report on a colleague's errors, misconducts, or crimes, including police brutality.
