I've had this thought bouncing around in my head since the last round of riots in Charlotte but I came across this video this morning and could hardly believe it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cvZyOak4dck&feature=youtu.be a group of (mostly white....) 'black lives matter' protesters attacking a black camera man who seems to be taking issue with their particular tactics. The juxtaposition of the whole thing is just too much, a bunch of ignorant sounding white 'activists' (one of them calls him a faggot) attacking a black man at a protest for black rights? I mean come on. The second best part of this video is probably the 8 year old blonde white boy holding an "I am not a nigger" sign. BLM was such a breath of fresh air two years ago but increasingly it seems like their recent actions have been well.... just fucking dumb and needlessly divisive. A mass movement has to attract people which is what BLM really seemed to be doing at the beginning, but what in the fuck are they even doing now? What do you all think?

It's not just one incident, there have been multiple 'BLM' protests that have been made up almost entirely of white suburbanites. The incident at the University of Indiana a few weeks ago consisted of almost all whites, the incident at Heathrow airport before that was by an all white group. The human chain preventing people from getting to class at Berkeley last year was mostly white, etc. etc. This is hardly isolated. I recently took a certification class at a local community college and while on campus witnessed a 'BLM protest' consisting again of almost all white students. In that incident I actually watched a group of black students literally laugh the protestors out of the quad, it was kind of surreal. As for this dude in the video, he is active in the Portland copwatch community, I really doubt he is a troll. It just seems like BLM has effectively been taken over by edgy white millennials at this point, and in that sense I definitely agree with you that it represents the limitations of structurelessness as you say. Edit: Actually after re-reading your post, can you explain how white people holding signs like "I am not a nigger" and physically assaulting black people represents militancy in your eyes? Is calling someone a faggot also a militant act? Very troubling thing to read honestly.

Because I think the entire premise of this thread is shit. It's basically kids acts like brats+foolish activists+shoving match=BLM sucks. This while there's far more pressing matters. This is nothing but spectacle that I don't care to participate and it was a fool's errand to even try to salvage something from this thread.
