Anti-war Veterans Ceremony this Friday Nov. 11, 11 AM

At the annual anti-war Veterans Day Ceremony, military veterans will remember all those lost in our wars abroad and honor the veterans of the wars here in Chicago—The war on Black, Latino, Muslim, and LGTB communities; the war on women; the war on workers and the poor; And the war on the environment. We especially honor those who have fought for peace.

The ceremony will take place at 11 AM, Friday November 11, at the river level Vietnam Memorial at Wacker and Wabash.
Speakers will include Iraq Veterans Against the War members Edgar Gonzalez-Baeza, and Ash Kyrie, Vietnam Veteran Against the War and MC Joe Miller, Martha Biondi from the Torture Justice Initiative, Gerald Hankerson from the Council on American-Islamic Relations, and Yvette Pino of the Veteran Print Project. Opening music will be provided by Al Scorch and closing music by Margaret Nelson.

After the ceremony, attendees are invited to come Shilas Restaurant, 3938 N. Cicero, which is half of a long block south of the National Veterans Art Museum. The restaurant has Mexican food among other foods and serves alcohol. After lunch we will be going to the Museum to see the Vonnegut exhibit which will be opening that day. (Yes, that Vonnegut. He was also an anti-war veteran and did visual art.)
